When I get back to college, I am going to meet with the Dean of Students regarding the harassment complaint my ex (in response to my stupidity of filing one against her when there was really no cause) filed against me. I am not in any more trouble than I already was, at least as far as I can tell. What sort of questions should I ask him about?
Some I can think of are:
1) See the complaint
2) What are the "rules" entailing this complaint (IE: Can I be in the same hall as her, etc.)
3) Explain the situation
Anything else you guys can think of? |

Without more information, it's difficult to answer your question appropriately.
Certainly, you should have the right to see the complaint. I'd suggest the following questions, at bare minimum...
1. May I see the written form of the complaint? May I have a copy to keep?
2. What is the school's procedure for processing the complaint?
3. How will that procedure impact my rights as a student on campus?
4. What are the potential consequences if her complaint is judged to have merit?
5. What steps do I need to take to formally respond to the complaint?
6. Do you have any resources I can access in defending myself against the complaint?
7. Is there any possibility of mediation between you and your ex facilitated through the school?
You might also want to find out if any kind of injunction has been filed against you. I'd also recommend staying as far away from your ex as you possibly can until the complaints are handled. |
