If you watch The Today Show on NBC,
all four principles researched their roots this week
and found where their ancestors came from.
So fellow Aspies, where did your ancestors come from?
On the paternal side, my ancestors came from Ireland and The Netherlands.
On the maternal side, my ancestors came from Spain,
some of them settled in Central America, where my mom is from. _________________ It's time to introduce a little anarchy. |

How far are you able to go back? Thats a start
Great-grandparents on both the mom and dad side
came from Finland to Norway - have no clue what things
were like further back, its a little shady at best

well i have to go back 5 generations to get anyone born outside of usa-- and even then, 13 of my 16 great great grandparents were born in the usa. one from sweden and two from denmark.
another generation back- out of 32 great great great grandparents, i have 18 usa, 8 unknown, 4 denmark, and 2 germany
the 18 usa lines go back a few more generations in this country, mostly georgia, florida, mass and virgina... half the lines end in unknown around 1674-1653, and several others go back to england with birth dates in 1609, 1620, 1619. _________________ www.asaspiepie.blogspot.com

Switzerland and the southern Baltic coast, in a region formerly known as "Pomeria." My ancestors were mostly from around Germany. I have to say around because I think at the time they came to the US much of it was part of Germany, but as the boarders are today some would be part of Poland.
Maybe 10% of my ancestors were from other northern European countries such as Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, and Finland. |

on my moms side, I am 1/8 native american, German, Dutch, and some others I can not think of right now.
and on my fathers side, I am English
A lot of people wonder what nationality my last name (Godbehere, that is pronounced god-be-here)
It is English and it was originally pronounced good-beer, I am not sure the original spelling though.
My fathers side of the family were respected gold and silver smiths. The most notable one of them is Samuel Godbehere. _________________ "No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under God."

On the maternal side, we are Welsh and Czech.
My paternal side is ahh... in question.
Three candidates.
One named Pinley (so... British? Met him once.)
One named Garcia (met him once. Funny story... Probably unlikely though.)
The other is the man who raised me and he is Norwegian. There is a town there named after that family line. Kinda neat.
So, hard to say. _________________ Do I contradict myself?

I've only tracked one side, and them only a few generations. But the name comes from Ireland, as does one side of the family, and the other comes from Ireland, Germany, and (apparently) France.
Going further back, most of my ancestors probably would have been in Iberia somewhere, and before that, probably just messing around Europe after getting there from the middle east, and before that in the African homeland. _________________ "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."
