I was a little nervous posting this topic. I don't want to sound like a weirdo or anything, I just wanted some advice.

How do you tell the other person that you want to meet them in person without sounding like a weirdo or a online predator. I want to meet this person badly. We have been REALLY good friends for almost a year. I guess it's not much, but we really do connect. Smile So, can anyone help me with this?

I've met a few online friends in person.

Just ask the person if they'd like to meet you.

For safety, choose a public place and carry a mobile phone. Make sure a family member knows where you are.

Maybe say something casually like "Can you imagine what it'd be like if we met?" Make it sound hypothetical or something, and see where it goes from there. That way if they aren't interested, it won't be so awkward or anything.

I've met a few online friends in reality also.

The first one was really awkward and we didn't get along well in reality at all. However, the second one worked out quite well and we've been dating for nearly a year. The third one also worked out well and we're good friends.

Try not to think that it's weird or anything. People you know online count as friends just as much as people you know in reality. I don't think there's any difference. Once you get over the initial awkwardness they're just as nice and easy to talk to in reality as online.

Don't be afraid to talk to them about it. If you let fear make decisions you could miss out on a great thing =]
