|
|
This sounds like a line from a horror movie:
Nothing stays dead forever.
In Hollyweird, that is literally true.
There is rarely a good idea in Hollyweird
that is worth filming. Sadly, most ideas in Hollyweird
are revisited, ressurected, reimagined, or used as a remake.
Since 2000, we have had three Spider-Man movies,
three X-Men movies, a Pirates of the Carribean trilogy,
the fourth PG-13 entry in the Die Hard franchise,
and recently the return of Indiana Jones.
Here is a list of franchises that could work
again in the 21st Century.
Mad Max
Last Movie Released: 1985
Status: "Fury Road" the supposed next entry
in the franchise, has supposedly been in pre-production
since late 2005. George Miller is once again slated to
direct. He wants to film in South Africa.
But security concerns have slowed to start of production.
Also, there is the problem of finding a new Max.
Dirty Harry
Last Movie Released: 1988
Status: Clint Eastwood's denial that there will be
no more DH movies is sparking the interest of big studio
Warner Brothers in reviving the DH franchise.
Rumors that Gran Torino is the new DH movie
have been debunked by Eastwood himself.
A new DH could show a retired, more wise Harry
learning to understand what happens when people
take the law into their own hands.
Match Harry with a corrupt government agency
and younger cops who see Harry as a role model
and you have a very compelling plot.
RoboCop
Last Movie Released: 1993
Status: Writer/Director Darren Aronofsky {The Fountain}
was recently selected to direct a reboot of this character.
The reboot is scheduled for a 2011 release.
Aronofsky could follow on a similar path Christopher Nolan
took when Nolan was selected to reboot Batman.
What say you, fellow Aspie movie buffs?

I would say Ghostbusters 3, but they've left it too long now and the actors are too old, especially bill murray and harrold ramis.
A remake of the nightmare on elm street series would be great, As long as they stick to the original storyline and don't try to make it like the rest of these crappy teen horror flicks we get nowadays. |

The Apartment
Soylent Green
Silent Running
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
The Time Tunnel
Westworld
Hang 'Em High
The Terminal Man
Looker
The Stand (let Peter Jackson have a crack at this one)
Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman or The Amazing Collosal Man
Forbidden Planet (nah, it was basically a Star Trek pre-pilot anyway)
Almost any Twilight Zone episode could be expanded into it's own movie (ah, that's when writers were writers. Good times.)
Why has there been no Hogan's Heroes movie yet? 'Cause it would be a remake of Stalag 17 and the Great Escape. Nevermind.
And Frank Miller should be allowed to direct his own Dark Knight Returns film. _________________ "I don't mean to sound bitter, cynical or cruel - but I am, so that's how it comes out."

unofficially the upcoming ghostbusters videogame will be ghostbusters 3, they are just debating whether or not to put that on the box. |

Superman.
In fact, they're right now trying to decide exactly what to do about it, mostly because Returns didn't work as they expected. |
