Ishmael, that'd be me, is going on a trip. Over the next few months I'll prepare for a world tour; fully documenting my experiences and perspectives as a man with Aspergers.
I'll also use my almost inhuman strength, stamina, endurance and insensitivity to temperature to my advantage, and attempt to accomplish feats in my travels that would kill any other man. What feats, you ask?
Why, walking from Adelaide to Darwin, for starters!
Granted, I've picked up a few aboriginal survival tricks, and I will have modern technology and a hand-trailer of supplies, but that's months upon months of harsh land with poisonous critters, little or no food and water save for my limited supplies... And, above all else, isolation. That thing I crave most; which could prove my death in the outback.
It should be fun!
Following Darwin, I'll go town-hopping in Queensland, before reaching Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and back to Adelaide. From there, I'll take a plane either to the U.k or Germany, and commence my European tour. Then North America, South America, Asia, Africa and finally the Middle-East, then a brief stint around Oceania before settling back in Adelaide for a little while... Then moving to Sydney!
Sounds fun, huh? I might die!
But, I'm still young - so I can afford to spend a few years globe-trotting. Plus, because I'm my own boss, I won't have to quit my "job"! It's the kind of work that can be put on hold, and parts even I can accomplish whilst travelling.
Whaddya think? _________________ Oh, well, fancy that! Isn't that neat, eh? |

I love traveling. I've traveled some by myself in Europe during my semester abroad in college, but I'd like to explore some other parts of the world as well. I have to save up some money first though.
I'm reading a book now called "Stalking the Wild Dik-Dik: One Woman's Solo Misadventures Across Africa." I've also read "Dead Men Leave No Tips," another story of travels across Africa, and next I'm going to read "WorldWalk," which is just what it sounds like. I've started reading it already actually, but I'm having trouble getting past the initial part where he walks across the US, which is kind of boring. |

Lucky. I have a couple more years of school.
If you're in Pennsylvania anytime, send me a PM. I'd like to meet you. _________________ "Idealism is a nice styrofoam raft to float on until you meet the jagged cliffs of reality" |

Sure thing; but it might take as long as two years for me to reach north america! Depends on how long I feel like sticking around in Europe for. _________________ Oh, well, fancy that! Isn't that neat, eh? |

Wow you are so lucky. Your life is so much more exciting than mine.. seriously! But at least I got to travel all over most of Western and Central Europe and most of USA. But eventually I hope to visit more places Thats why I am not having anymore kids!! _________________ I was told that I have PDD-NOS and ADHD- in other words, mild AS with a history of speech delay. That sounds incredible! If I had the resources to spend years traveling, I think that a thorough trip around Australia would be first on my list, although my tour would include the western half of the country and I might not spend much time in the northern parts.
Then I'd go to Madagascar and see some prosimians. Then I'd go to southeastern Europe for a little while. Then South America, journey north for a brief visit to my American friends and family, and then back to Australia to stay.
So, anyway, I wish you luck with your travels and the documentation of your experiences!
Also, the best way to deal with snakes is to leave them alone - stay on the trail, don't go looking under rocks, if you see a snake just stay far away from it, etc. Most snake bite victims get bitten by attempting to interact with the snake in some way. Snakes bite defensively; their main priorities are hiding and maintaining a comfortable body temperature. |
