| S0...I am at a loss. Right now I am making plans to be a play therapist. I love kids and I want to help them. Plus, I was in it. However...I have felt this nurturing f0r animals that I never had previously. I feel more, I don't know, connected, to animals. I have a heart, a special soft-spot in my heart for them. Trouble is, there is very little I can do as a life-long career with animals. Vet is out of the question. I don't even know what's all out there. With kids, though, I relate easily and have a way with them. And I wouldn't mind working with kids at all. So I am stuck, kids or animals? |

I could be wrong but i think there are play therapists that incorporate dogs and cats into sessions. I wouldn't want to do that though as I'd be worried about the animals getting hurt by the children |

They are discovering more and more ways that animals can help people. Besides dogs and cats, horses are also being used to help people. Children with autism and disabilities such as brain injury can sometimes relate to animals better than to people. And there are programs for children who have trouble learning to read- if they read to a dog, they are more relaxed than reading to an adult who they feel is judging them. Of course the adult is there to help, but the children are more focused on the dog.
Have you read Temple Grandin's books? |

there is also therapy with horses and dolphins _________________ One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. |
