Why are there so many if not more names derogatory toward women than men?
Like:
Slut
Skank
Ho
The B word
Wench
The C word..if you really wanna know PM me.
Feminist...as in a bad way. If it's termed as man hater than why not that word?
Witch
Bimbo
...and so on.
Just curious. I wondered this for a long long time since I was as young as 10.

Well, Witch is no longer considered a derogatory term and using it as an insult nowadays makes one look superstitious.
I happen to use *Bitch* against BOTH men and women.
Lets make a list of bad words to refer to men:
Sexist
Male chauvinist pig/pig
asshole
Motherf***er
bastard
punk
manpussy
fag
wanker
douchebag
...

There's plenty of terms for a man people don't like (jerk, a--hole, dick, etc..). However, women just have a few more, since loose sexuality is much more of an insult toward a woman than it is a man.
My question is that if women hate these terms so much, why do they use them on each other so much? I swear, 90% of the time I hear someone call someone else a skank, it's one woman to another. |

I'd rather be call man names then female names. None of them really fit me as most have to do was something sexual. Bitch maybe but that seems to be the only insult for women.
I like asshat or f**k face or douche bagel for both genders.

Good point-and I SERIOUSLY wonder why that's the case. Feminists claim vociferously that men invented monogamy as a tool to control women and that to be "sexually liberated" you must be promiscuous.

Really? Who have you been talking to? Because every feminist I've talked to has been married (for decades), and has never made those claims. Granted the argument that marriage was 'created' or 'invented' as a way to transfer property (a woman) between men has been made numerous times. But those two points are new ones on me.
As to the original point, perhaps there are so many negative/sexual terms for women because of trying to keep women "in line" or "moral" (historically speaking, here). *shrug* Like so many other words, they only have the power we give them. Yeah, I'm not fond of them, but generally because they're only spoken in anger.

Feminists claim no such thing, in my considerable experience. What they claim is that a woman should not be looked down upon because of her sexual choices, promiscuous or otherwise, any more than a man is. |

Ive heard such from contemporary feminists in their 20s, AND Ive read such insinuations in womens response to the ever-popular HBO series Sex and the city. So yeah, quite a few women Ive met who are part of the so-called third wave feminism seem to embrace polyamory. |

And I think polyamory is not a big deal after all. I mean it's just a plain old relationship but with more members. It's like taking a single player game and adding a multiplayer level to it. Ain't it so?
(Besides... I'm getting more and more fond of the "endogamous, tightly knit, matriarchal groups" sort of thing mentioned in the "Neanderthal theory of Asperger" study. Maybe it's because that study explains much of the other little things I have... like the injury instinct/pleasure cutting thing and operating on a much higher level under 0 centigrade than in any other temperature, and the slowly flowing water thing...not saying I'm sure of its correctness though.)

I use the term "slut" for both men and women (ex: "James Bond is a slut.") A promiscuous man is no better than a promiscuous woman. I've heard the argument that since it's more difficult for a man to get sex than a woman, he must have some kind of "talent" in order to sleep with so many women... but that means nothing. "Slut" is an offensive term because it implies a lack of morality, not "talent"... and the promiscuous man has no more "morality" than the promiscuous woman. So if we're going to use the word, it should be applied equally to both men and women.
However, now that I think about it... I guess the term "pervert" is closer to being the male equivalent of "slut." Though I still don't see why we shouldn't use the same word for both genders. |

I know this is probably a touchy subject I brought up. Where I grew up and what I've seen is more negativity in terms of sexuality far more on women than men (not saying men don't have it easy because I have no idea what it's like to be a man). What I mean is when a girl has been with a guy or more than one guy (not that I agree with polyamory) she's called a slut or ho. But with the guys I've been around or seen in the media, everytime I heard one guy say he scored with a chick, it was like "You the Man" or "The Pimp." Like if a guy has more than one girl, he's considered..I guess the Alpha.
I lost some guy friends due to just these little things. I never got used to them like some people and I never felt like I was taken serious when I didn't want to be called bitch just for fun. 
What I really hate is when derogatory words like that have been used as a compliment. I don't know why that is but it just turns my stomach to be called a hot bitch or pussy.
I know with guys, it's usually efeminate names like faggot, pussy, gay, dink (derogatory to homosexuals when you really think about it.) and what's with the fag hag? 
FYI, I never did like that show Sex and the City. That's one show of women I could never identify with.
