Father says he killed son because mother was "ruining him"
By Nancy Lofholm - Denver Post Staff Writer - 09/17/2008 08:22:40 PM MDT
Allen Lee Grabe (Mesa County Sheriff) - A Grand Junction man allegedly shot his teenage son in the face while he was sleeping last Thursday and then, before firing several more bullets into his dying son's head, told his wife, "I had to kill him because you were ruining him."
Those details were revealed in an arrest warrant affidavit that was unsealed Wednesday in the first-degree murder case of Allen Grabe.
Grabe, 51, is being held in the Mesa County Jail on a $1 million bond in the death of his only child, 13-year-old Jacob Grabe. The boy suffers from a mild form of a neurological disorder similar to autism called Asperger's syndrome.
Grabe was arrested after his wife, Jaquette Grabe, called 911 from a locked closet at about 10 p.m. to report that her husband had just shot their son.
When police arrived at the home, they found Allen Grabe sitting on the front porch with a revolver in his hand. The affidavit said he set the firearm down and said, "I give up."
Jacob Grabe had recently started 8th grade where he was participating in track, was a member of the band, and had just been elected band equipment manager.
Comment:
Yet another very sad end to a young aspie child's life, there are no words... but my heart felt deepest sympathy for his mother. Ignorance really can kill, its not the first time I would of heard "your making that child soft", "its your thought the child is the way he is?" _________________ "Believe in your self, we are who we are - as it can feel like an endless task trying to be someone else!" I blame video games.
They've instilled in some people the notion that if a life is 'ruined', then one can simply end that life, and start fresh with a new one... the biological equivalent of pressing the reset button... _________________ Never let your schooling interfere with your education. - Samuel Clemens |

I think it has a lot more to do with the ignorance of others not understanding those of us on the autism spectrum and there frustrations of not being able to change things. But does make you wonder who really has the problem in this world! _________________ "Believe in your self, we are who we are - as it can feel like an endless task trying to be someone else!" Indeed. I have never had a problem with my Aspergers. Other people do, and that makes my life difficult. _________________ Never let your schooling interfere with your education. - Samuel Clemens |

I completely disagree... first off, the father did it, not the kid. Secondly, statistics show that kids who play violent video games are LESS likely to commit violent crimes.. |

I agree, does bill gates seem the type who would do that, and I know my boys are not.... many aspies children spend time on the computer.... I feel it was more the NT farther was to ignorance to understand his aspie son and wanted a stereo type child, what ever that is!
Parents should be teaching their children diverseity and differences, not causing the problems... _________________ "Believe in your self, we are who we are - as it can feel like an endless task trying to be someone else!" maybe. That is a horrible thing to do. That kid was doing quite good for himself, he had great potential for the future and that guy ends his life for that stupid reason.
RIP Jacob. |

Probably has more to do with religion filling people's heads with bullshit about a wonderful happy place up in the clouds, especially as this happened in a red Jesusland state. _________________ "How come when it's us, it's an abortion, and when it's a chicken, it's an omelette?"
