I think there's actually a whole book of jokes that circulated in both concentration camps and German communities during the second world war. I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but it exists.

Despite the presence of antifa and other efforts to quell them, they still exist because of freedom of speech and freedom of belief. Quite a few politicians in Germany have tried to eliminate the NSDAP, and the power of that party is significantly less than it once was, but they're still around because as much as it may enrage people, they have every right to believe whatever they want and talk about it. The Freedom Party is just doing it more effectively than the NSDAP.
Their success can mostly be attributed to keeping their BS on a leash. The racist propaganda is kept to a relative minimum (and I'm using the original NSDAP as a benchmark here), where it's just enough for people to relate it to their own problems, but not so strongly that it pushes them away. Some of our own politicians use the same tactic. Germany and Austria don't exactly have a monopoly on close-minded, racist idiots.
