am have never had a computer break before [apart from viruses if they can be counted, when that ms blaster one came out],but have had them break many times through getting in way of meltdowns, states and seizures.
when have found out have broken them, have gone into meltdown again.
am relie on computers for main communicating via text on screen or TTS,so have seperate insurance for current toshiba lt,will always recommend toshibas for being less breakable, they were at college and this one has had drops on the floor, bangs, kicks etc-still going strong.

Mine took a crap late last month. I was really just disappointed, as I had been looking for a reason to build my own, anyway. Fortunately, my fiance has a computer. Yep, we each have our own machines. I have sharing problems with things like computers. Rolling Eyes

I'm in the process of building my own now. I'll never buy another manufacturer PC again. They're all a massive ripoff. It's far cheaper to build your own, and you can build it to your specifications. You don't have to pay a premium to some middle-man (the store) for an inferior product with little or no hardware upgrade ability, overclocking capabilities locked, and model-specific hardware that you have to buy, at a premium, from the company should it need replaced.

I fix it. I have enough spare parts that I almost have a complete second machine. It might waste an afternoon, but by the time the day is out, I will be back up and running again.

Consider drop kicking the thing out the window, verbally threaten said computer, then threaten it with a screwdriver.

It's a laptop or I would actually kick it. I used to do that with my old Compaq every time it went kaput, just kick it. And I swear, half the time it fixed it.

And if I caint fix it I get VERY depressed and angry. You'd think my best friend had just died.

I sometimes wish that Linux could easily run Windows programs easily without having to configure another program to get it to run. Been considering running Virtualbox on my SuSE x64 11.0 install. Then I could put all versions of Windows on there - Except Windows XP x3

Never had one break, but they would have periodic program malfunctions...
Though it does seem the older ones I had (one made in 1994) seemed to be a lot less fragile, but maybe it was because they didn't have too many high-tech giblets inside them Wink
