Ewww... gross. There was a report on lice on TV just now.
About how it's a more and more common experience in our days to have them.
Anyone ever had them?
Gladly, I did not. _________________ The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. Terry Pratchett |

Had em as a kid. Parents were too stupid to have my hair cut (it's so beautiful! )-and I'm a guy. For f*ck's sake...
I tried taking care of this problem on my own with a real fine tooth comb I had, not one of the special kinds, just one that happened to have the teeth real close. Anyway, every morning, after taking my shower, I'd comb my hair, and with each pass I'd pick up a few. Smacked the comb on the sink to shake em off, lined em up, and when I couldn't remove any more, I'd smash em. Revenge I guess. One at a time with the end of the comb. Was kind of gratifying to see my blood splatting out of them beasts, blood that had once been mine, circulating peacefully until it was sucked out of me. _________________ Still grateful.

Never as a kid, but as an adult I have because I sometimes look after a family of 8 children, all of whom are so riddled with them they have scabbed heads. Their parents won't do anything about it though because "other parents send their kids to school with them so they'll just get them again". I pulled 250 off one kid's head a few weeks ago. It was certainly an interesting way to teach the poor girl to count...
I always tie my hair up when I go to their house, and comb it thoroughly afterwards, and the second I find one I panic and use some of that nasty shampoo straight away. Revolting things, you feel so dirty. _________________ We are a fever, we are a fever, we ain't born typical...

Used to work in an after school kids club, with kids from several schools, and I have dreads.
Cider apple vinegar and essential oils of oregano or aniseed in an alcohol solution (I just used vodka) work very well, as I've completely eradicated lice several times, in 2 treatments spaced 1 week apart. Much healthier than using the mercury based insecticide shampoos.

I've never ever had lice. But I remember in elementary school we would have random lice checks. It was reallya wful. we got calle out one by one, where ladies with combs would go over our scalps. my hair was always really tangled (and I mean really tangled, matted) so it made it even harder. _________________ My Bunny will *eet* your bunny for brekfist!

Nope. I had a tick on my head once as a child due to rolling around in the forest playing "army man", however.
Ha, the South Park episode that deals with head lice is hilarious. |

My son brought 'em home about two weeks ago.
For boys: shaving the head works really well
For girls: I put olive oil on my hair every 4 days for about 2 hours at a time, under a shower cap, then combed it through with a fine-tooth lice comb, then shampooed.

As a kid, I never had to deal with lice. My mom was constantly putting things like Dippety-Doo & some other pump spray styling product in my hair, & I think the lice hated it. LOL I had helmet hair, but no bugs.
My kids didn't fair so lucky though. Both of them got lice. Because of how much hair they had, I had to use a flea comb designed for dogs & cats. The plastic ones that came with the kits were practically useless & broke after just a few tries. I also used olive oil to help comb the lice out of their hair (they can't hold on to the shafts when they're coated with oil) with the flea comb & then killed the little buggers. I'd hate to go through that again. I know my kids would too! _________________ You can't change your genes, but you can learn to wear them better!

I had them as a kid, I remember one time when we were suposed to be doing christmas activities and me and two other kids were put in a seperate room by ourselves for lice/nits. Personly I see that there are so many other parasites on us these are only the bigger ones, I dont have a problem of thinking them as dirty except for itching for some reason, there better then tics or leeches which I have got and adopted the nickname leech magnet for a period.
I tell you something usefull to use, use Eucalyptus oil, it is a usefull oil from Eucalyptus trees that insects totaly hate also the smell though a bit strong is not realy that bad. It could be something to look out for but I dont know how easy it is to find over seas as it is an Australian product, but I am not just advertising it for that. Though if you do get it just be careful for them not to ingest it, want to know more this is the wiki page, but mostly known as being something mothers tell each other to use. _________________ They're sinking cities with a GIANT WOOOOORM!!!!

It's usually called Tea Tree oil in the States. Health food stores sell it in small bottles, I recommend putting several drops into your shampoo bottle. It repels the lice, but when I tried it, I foudn that it didn't get rid of the existing infestation. But I think it smells great. |

Well apparently Tea Tree oil is from and australian trees leaves but is from a different tree, eucalyptus is actualy the tree that form the Koala's main diet. Getting all of its water from the leaves and the oil in the leaves make the koalas in a constant dopey state. But they probably are both as good. _________________ They're sinking cities with a GIANT WOOOOORM!!!!
