Also what about the nineties electronic dance acts? The Chemical brothers are fantastic as are The Prodigy. Is anyone eelse enamoured of these groups? |
Oh yes. The Prodigy is brilliant. I saw them live in Reading '98 and they were amazing. Back before they got old and past it, say I pushing 31 now.
For many years, Music For The Jilted Generation was a permanent feature in my car stereo, but I had to take it out because it made me drive like a lunatic! _________________ -~ God-damn the day that I was born ~

Agreed. New Metallica is far from metal. At what point did they get their balls cut off? |

This is precisely the time and the place- the only reason this place exists is because each and every one of us was exposed to mercury, right?
please don't make me explain that that was a joke, it was, you get it or you don't |

there's plenty of good stuff other than metal, you just have to look for it. stoner rock, ska, reggae, maybe something that is completely experimental and cannot possibly categorized into one genre |

hey, not that I'm advicating them (for fear of being eaten alive) but what the hell would you classify Linkin Park as?
BESIDES POP!!!!
Edit: I am very aware they're not at all metal. They're just weird and tough to classify in general.
I think the weirdest thing I like is rai, and I've only ever heard one song in its style so it hardly counts. Desert Rose by sting and Cheb Mami. Totally weird but awesome. You can't listen to it for very long without starting to feel stoned.

I like almost anything except for metal and most country music. I can tolerate country if I have to, but metal gives me an instant migraine and or meltdown. I can't think at all when it's playing...
Classical: Bach, Vivladi, anything played by Itzhak Perlman or Vanessa Mae.
I tend to like oldies and 80's music.
Elton John, Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, Jill Sobule, R.E.M., Billy Joel, the list goes on... |

stoner rock doesn't necessarily have to be metal. have you ever heard Big Elf? ...or more familiarly, what about Pink Floyd
Linkin Park i would categorize as angsty rap. sorry, but that just isn't metal in the least bit. |

Oh I KNOW it's not metal, this is the non-metal thread and I've been trying to figure out what they are for awhile. |

Linkin Park was popular before the phrase nu-metal was even used, I'm pretty sure they're considered Rap-Rock. Nu-metal is just a word used by people too lazy to think of a genre to place something. _________________ (Currently undergoing personality reboot) |
