| I love on my own i am a 28 year old female aspie. At the moment we are having a hard rubbish (trash) collection so people have things out on their nature strip and others come around to collect them if they wish (even though it is illegal. Today an intellectually disabled man came by with a bike and trailer picking things up to seel for scrap, he was admiring my cat and then came to the door asking if there were any odd jobs I had for him. I admired his enthusiasm and energy getting out there and doing something despite being disabled. Therefore I offered that he could mow my back lawn for me even though I could easily do it myself. I told my neighbours and they were concerned about him casing the joint I assured them I wont be letting them in the house and will be watching him. But my friend who I called later is making me feel paranoid she was saying that it is dangerous to have him come and that being on my own I am at risk. Due to my own Asperger's I am not good at judging character, admit I am trusting and often tell a bit much information. However this guy seemed fairly harmless what are peoples opinions? |

Well my friend was making me paranoid that he was going to rape me or something. I do know al ot of people get odd jobers into their places though. |

Sounds more like your friends might have been TOO judgemental.
Just maintain the same precautions you would use with any other unknown person; don't let him in your home, be assertive, don't reveal any personal information and don't allow him to talk you into anything. |

I'd like to add that you should be officially polite and keep a distance, even if he will tell you anything about himself and his life like he is an old friend of yours. |

The fact that he did all that, went up to your door, and ASKED, makes me think you are probably fine. They DO have a point though. I guess it is a tossup for me, based on what you said. If *I* were you, I would probably try to be more careful.
BTW watch things. A had a kid with, what I BELIEVE, was average intelligence, water my yard, and his incessant watering raised my bill over 500%! If your mower hurts someone's flowers, etc... YOU could be held liable. |

You're fine as long as you don't let him in your house and you call and let a neighbor know he's there working.
