Anything but cheesy love ballads from the 70s and 80s.

Few lovesongs do it to me, most sound cheesy and somewhat forced. However, one reaches for the heart and cuts like a knife...

My reflection wraps and pulls me into healing waters
to be bathed in Brena
Guides me safely into world I ve never been to
Heal me, heal me, my dear Brena

So vulnerable, but its allright...

Show me lonely and show me openings
to bring me closer to you, my dear Brena

So vulnerable, but its allright...

Heal me, heal me, ...

A Perfect Circle. This song borders perfection. To call your lover "my reflection" alone is so in-depth and romantic that it makes the song fantastic from the first words on. The whole song just makes me wish I had a girlfriend to hold in my arms and call her !my reflection Sad Thanks Maynard James Keenan for so much beauty.

PS: a few other lovesongs I do like:

Marillion - Kayleigh
Echo and the Bunnymen - I'll fly tonight
Heather Nova - Winterblue (I love the line "to every life a light that shines, to every heart a beat thats true")

But nothing beats Brena by APC.

My favorite love song for a long time has been "Still Remains" by Stone temple Pilots.
Strange choice, I know, but I hate the mushy ones.

How about cheesy love ballads from the '90s?

Queensryche - "Jet City Woman"

Rush - "The Speed of Love"

And, with a quick jump back to the '70s, Emerson Lake & Palmer - "Closer To Believing"

"If I Could Be Where You Are"
Composition by Enya (Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin)
Lyrics written by Roma Ryan

---

Where are you this moment?
Only in my dreams.
You're missing, but you're always
a heartbeat from me.

I'm lost now without you.
I don't know where you are.
I keep watching,
I keep hoping,
but time keeps us apart.

[chorus]
Is there a way I can find you?
Is there a sign I should know?
Is there a road I could follow,
to bring you back home?

Winter lies before me,
Now you're so far away.
In the darkness of my dreaming
The light of you will stay

If I could be close beside you,
If I could be where you are,
If I could reach out and touch you,
And bring you back home.

[chorus]
Is there a way I can find you?
Is there a sign I should know?
Is there a road I could follow,
to bring you back home?

To me...

Crying or Very sad

If you're going Queensryche, I think "The Thin Line" is a better love song.

On the cheesy love ballads from the '90s... how about Poison "Flesh and Blood"?
