It was taken back in 1991, the day after hurricane Bob. I weighed a healthy 176. I'm 298 now. _________________ I put the "__" in lazy |

That day, I took a walk down to the public side of the State Pier, and marvelled at how Casco Bay had turned from a slightly murky greenish color to a muddy brown color. The previous day, I walked around Portland w/o realising that the storm that we were experiencing was a hurricane, and was very upset by the fact that Green Mountain Coffee Roasters on Temple St. was closed. --Later on that evening when the winds were starting to pick up, I watched the vinyl siding of a house on Federal St. being peeled off by the wind. _________________ "Blessed are the Distinctly Alien, for they shall inherit the Earth." -- Genesis P. Yeah, I spent a LOT of time in the Old Port, my mom worked at 3 Dollar Deweys back when it was still on the corner of Temple and Fore St. I could usually be found either inside of Green Mountain, or smoking on the benches out in front during all seasons. --I was one of the punkers that hung out there.
I lived on Waterville St, and would walk down Federal St after cutting through Munjoy South on my way to the Old Port. _________________ "Blessed are the Distinctly Alien, for they shall inherit the Earth." -- Genesis P. Orridge

I used to play in the playground there at Munjoy South as a wee one. You could see my house on Sheridan Street from the playground - the gray apartment building with the porches facing the playground.
Waterville street, was that the one down at the bottom of Sheridan and Kellogg or the very next one down leading to the promenade? _________________ I put the "__" in lazy |

No the street at the bottom of Sheridan and Kelogg is Adams St, which dead ends at Waterville St. Waterville St. was the one that went down to the beginning of the Promenade/end of Fore St. -- My house was the brown shingled one at the intersection of Atlantic and Waterville. --It's now covered in real cedar shingles, which were put up about a month before hurricane Bob. _________________ "Blessed are the Distinctly Alien, for they shall inherit the Earth." -- Genesis P. We may well have, though I'm sure that we saw each other from time to time. If you saw a guy in a painted Motorcycle jacket worn over a brown camoflage jacket on a skateboard that was much longer than the standard size riding around the Old Port in the late 80's, that was me.
Conversely, You may have also seen me at Geno's Pub on Brown St. in late 1992/early 1993 running the PA system that I had sorted out and cleaned up after the last sound guy gave up the job. --By this time, I had a bush of unruly hair ( I blame the Irish and French ancestry for this) and usually wearing a Guatamalan shirt. _________________ "Blessed are the Distinctly Alien, for they shall inherit the Earth." -- Genesis P. college, ben and jerry's, lots of pizza.
In high school, I was very involved in track, I rode my bike at least 10 miles every day often more, I took karate and drank lots of water.
In college, all of that stopped.
Fogman, do you remember a fellow with a pack of dogs? I think the kids used to call him David the Dog Man. I guess he was fined several times for not having them on leashes. He was an older fella - maybe in his 50's at the time. Big bushy beard, looked homeless. _________________ I put the "__" in lazy |

Yeah, I remember him quite well. Dave The Dogman's real name was David Koplow. He had been a really good lawyer at one point in his life. He lived on St Lawrence St. for a while, and worked as a Sign maker. In 1985, He lived in Fisherman's shack on Widgery Warf, when I was living on a houseboat one wharf over on Union Wharf. -- I have since deduced that two of the people that I was living with at the time were autistic, and I have my suspicions about Dogman Dave as well.
In 1989 and 1990, Dave was living in an RV that he parked between Danforth and York St, and would see him from time to time until the Portland PD confiscated his dogs in 1992. He had argued quite sucessfully in court about violating dog ordnances for several years before the police finally confiscated them.
I googled these images of him sitting in the bandstand on the Eastern Prom with his family, circa 1988.
I have no clue as to what happened to him after his dogs were confiscated, though I had heard that he had moved to Biddeford. _________________ "Blessed are the Distinctly Alien, for they shall inherit the Earth." -- Genesis P. Orridge

No, I don't remember a glass blower under the clock, but that was because between 1975 and 1981 I was living with my dad in North Dakota. The Glass Blower wasn't there in 1981 when I returned.
Just out of curiosity, when you were a kid did you ever go to the East End Children's Workshop at either the original Mayo St. location, or the Shaylor School location on North St? _________________ "Blessed are the Distinctly Alien, for they shall inherit the Earth." -- Genesis P. Orridge

Went to Adam's School for kindergarten...
Nope, I don't think I've been to either of those. Well, there was one time I got a TB tine test at the clinic down in Kennedy Park which I think is Mayo st. Now that I think about it, that clinic was on Boyd Street down there. _________________ I put the "__" in lazy |
