Alright, so I'm planning ahead for Christmas, and was asked if I could have a laptop, what kind would it be. I'd really enjoy one very much, but what to get?
I'm an artist, and I scan my pictures to online. I like to edit them as best I can. I'd love if I could use photoshop. I don't own any, nor have ever used it, but I see and hear that it works wonders! Also, I do photography, so if that helps narrow down specifics.
I plan on going to college for graphic design in video games, so I need to get my computer and graphic editing skills in my work up to par. Any ideas? I really want to have the ability to put photoshop on it, and to have access to wireless internet. Also, I like to listen to music, so I'll need to put my Zune software on it as well.
Help much appreciated. Thank you!!! _________________ "Here's to the crazy ones... Because they change things. They push the human race forward. I know that everyone I knew from high school who want on into art-related fields all got Macbook Pros. Very nice machines; MacOSX kind of has the niche for graphics, videos, pics etc and the graphics car on the Pro is VERY high-quality. They have about the same wifi chipset as everyone else, and it won't give you any trouble unless you try to install Linux. (shout-out to Fuzzy! ) Also, OSX in general won't give you any trouble- no need to worry about security issues of any kind (I have never used an anti-malware program in my life and my MacBook has never once had a computer virus) and it is extremely stable- no crashes. Plus, if you find the Mac OS not to your liking, it is easy nowadays to install Windows on a Mac via Bootcamp, so you can still run all the same programs that Windows has. _________________ WAR IS PEACE

Toshiba makes a quality notebook computer. If you're doing photo editing, I would suggest a dual core system with 1-2 GB of main memory, and a quality graphics controller that has separate memory, instead of using main memory for graphics.
I currently have a Toshiba that I got nearly 2 years ago. It has a dual core CPU, 1 GB main memory, and a graphics controller that has either 64 or 128MB of vram. This computer also has an SD memory card slot as well. _________________ "Blessed are the Distinctly Alien, for they shall inherit the Earth." -- Genesis P. Orridge |

Really, focus on battery life, that should be the priority when getting something like this. _________________ Mankind is not evil; itīs just misinformed ~ Charles Xavier |
