Occaisionally I'll listen to bluegrass, or stuff like Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams Sr. I', also openminded about some of the alterna Country/Folk ,(think No Depression Magazine type stuff) but that's about it.

I think that the stuff that's been coming out of Nashville for the past 25 years has been crap. --Don't take that as putting your music down, as I tend to hate commercial music that has "chart appeal" anyways.

Johnny Cash is great. Under the looser definitions of country, I also love Amy Grant and Nickel Creek/Chris Thile's solo albums.

yeah, I know...it;s a great song, though! I love their stuff-nothing like them, ever, ever. Chris Thile's solo stuff is great, have you heard much of that?

I love Johnny Cash. I really need to listen to more country, suggest some defining artists and i'll consider buying some records of theirs.

Stompin' Tom is the only country singer I'd ever allow played on my stereo. Johnny Cash has some neat tunes but the rest? Naaahhh.

Give Doc Boggs a listen. More hardcore emotion in his lyrics and music than any of the poseur Emo or Nu-Metal crap that passes itself off as music these days. --and he uses just a banjo as accompanyment. Some of his best stuff was recorded by the Smithsonian Folkways archive project in 1929.
