no, it would just start up again anyway, since it's a basic human thing.

I voted no, because I think many people have distorted views of religion.

For example, many people think Christians are bigoted, intolerant prudes. In reality, "true" Christians would have a mindset similar to the hippies (both groups have the message of peace and love).

Given that I am Christian, no I would not wish to eradicate religion. Your question assumes that religion is false, which you have not demonstrated to be the case.

Atheists start wars too. Stalin killed a ton of people. Napoleon was scornful of religion for almost his entire life. The violence and needless wars weren't because of religion, they were because of flawed human nature and greed. You can't just go around blaming religion for everything bad that people have ever done.

Yeah it was a mistake putting my views, so they've gone. I'm more interested in hearing other peoples' opinions rather than their take on my own, often poor opinions!

I am considering offering someone marijuana in church, just to see what would happen.

(I don't smoke the reefer).

If I did that here, I would get this reply:

(Haram = sinful, Halal = Permissible, Sunnat = Good acts of the prophet, rewarding for one to perform)

I am not sure... on the one hand, there's so much bad things, which extremism causes, OTOH, I see that religion in its moderate form can help people. Like Khan_Sama. Can't you have a switch that makes us all Unitarian Universalists? Wink

I would flip the switch that erases hateful and destructive religious beliefs, but which has no effect on the religious beliefs that encourage people to improve themselves and help others.

I voted yes, but not by magically wiping beliefs from people's minds, but by exposing all the evidence that makes religious books and doctrines untrustworthy guides.
