In 25 minutes, the history channel will be showing a 2 hour documentary about body language. I thought you might want to know so you can start recording.

The whole concept of body language is a lie.
No one can read strangers with any reliability.
I wish people would stop acting like it's useful.

The chances of getting it right are the same as of getting it wrong. Sad that job candidates are turned down or chosen based on this.

I am recording it. I will watch it later.

Maybe this show will give me some clues about how to read body language and teach me some of it.

No matter what I learn about NT body language, it makes absolutely NO difference to me - because I NEVER notice it, and I can NEVER remember to use it Laughing .

And most crucial interactions happen on the phone anyway.

HAH!

The whole concept of body language is what makes being a "psychic" so profitable! If psychics can not read their clients' body language, then he or she must rely solely on leading questions and clandestine background information to please the clients and inspire them to return for more.

Maybe Aspies can read body language but not process it consciously but subconsciously instead and that is why some are psychic but lack social empathy?

I blink a lot because my eyes hurt. I've mentioned it to doctors, but that leads nowhere.
I do it so much that it's annoying even to me, even when I'm sitting alone.
Shall I go through life explaining it to everyone in every conversation?

I'm sure I frown more that I realize when I have a headache. Sometimes I say it, sometimes I'll give some sign, like putting my head in my hand. I can't do that all the time.

People from the mid-west drive me crazy with their timing. They don't have an accent, but they have funny little pauses and dead air in the conversation that make communication and trust impossible. I need to make a conscious effort to remember that it means nothing. The relationship remains civil and cooperative, but never gets to the warm-and-fuzzy stage.

My brother has that white-boy, tight-azz walk that screams "snob." And he is a little bit of a snob, now that I think of it. But that's not why he walks like that. It's purely physiological. My other brother has a kind of a cave-man walk that says he's friendly and approachable. Again, it means nothing -- he's just built that way.

People who can read each other become natural friends, and that's great. Have fun. But don't use it as a basis for aggression against someone outside the clique (me). Find something better to do.

In self-defense conversations, they tell you to "trust your instincts." If you take that to mean "get away," that is smart because you might be right about the thug and there's no point in taking the risk. If you take it as a call for a preemptive strike, that's psychotic. The truth is that you don't know anything about a stranger, period. You are only guessing.

Wow.

If only we could actually get the History Channel here. Maybe I should ask.
