Hi, as some of you already know, I am an experienced gamer Razz but I have a zero experience when it comes to kids :-/

What are the best DS games for a 8 years old kid?

Oh, she already has nintendogs and Mario 64

If she likes platformers, you can go with Super Princess Peach, New Super Mario Brothers, or Yoshi's Island 2 (the last of which is pretty difficult though.)

Mario Kart DS is always good. The Professor Layton games I hear are full of entertaining puzzles, and she might enjoy Cooking Mama, if she likes to... pretend to cook.

Well I'm not exactly 8 years old, but maybe pokemon?
I mean I LOVE pokemon!! So maybe your 8 year old there will love it, too!! Very Happy

And maybe some of the Legend of Zelda games.. I'm sure at least some of them can be grasped by an 8 year old! Smile
(Yes, I love Zelda as well!!)

I'm not experienced with games but I was going to suggest Zelda, particularly because he kind of looks like your avatar. There's also Harvest Moon ( I think?) with really nice graphics-it's basically a farm. The artwork really is beautiful. That game and Animal Crossing are more about creating environments which I think girls might like.

I learned she's into puzzles, zelda does have puzzle but I am talking about pure puzzle games.

I am lucky, there's a very new puzzle game: http://www.gamespot.com/ds/puzzle/scribblenauts/index.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=topten&tag=topten;all;10

It sounds good.

This is be added to the list.

Puzzle games? Easy. Get her Professor Layton & The Curious Village. It is the DS's definitive puzzle game.

If she likes puzzles then you should consider scribblenauts. It's a decent game, kid friendly, and uses creativity.

I second the Proffessor Layton games but, some of the puzzles can be quite frustrating for adults to, but that just makes it more fun. the Kirby games are always good.

Second scribblenauts as well Proffessor Layton just came out with a sequel so plenty of hours of fun to be had.

I recommend New super mario bros, it's like a remake of the orignial mario game on NES, but zelda on DS is too difficult for most kids, and I didn't like it, try pokemon platinum, pearl and diamond, but I myself will never give Sinnoh a chance.

Can't go wrong with Pokemon! Although you might want to wait until spring when the Gold/Silver remakes come out.

Also, Mario Kart is a great one.
