All my life I've been told I'm talking too loud during a conversation. I've never become fully conscious of it while it's been happening - and when I was a kid, I didn't actually feel that I was talking loudly at all. I just tried to lower my tone slightly to please the person I was conversing with, and then a few minutes later, my voice would apparently have notched up the decibels again.
These days, I don't get the "you're shouting"/"I'm standing right here, not at the other end of the room," comments as frequently as I did back then - so it would appear that my voice has probably tamed a little over the years. But as others have mentioned - the minute the discussion starts getting heated, I get told that I'm shouting plenty of times. And these days I can sense it a little more. I become aware of it when it's pointed out.
I also have had the odd occasion where I've tried to say "hi" and it's come out practically inaudible - but it's rare compared to the times when I boom it out. |

Oh sheesh. This is like one of the biggest problems in my marriage! My husband always thinks I'm yelling at him when I'm kind of just.. having an animated discussion. Not angry.
He says it has to do with my tone of voice. I think volume plays into it a little too.
I do also get told that I'm too loud sometimes randomly (as far as I can tell). Seperate issue from above. .... I think?
lol I'm totally clueless. |

When I'm talking to my family...I don't know why it's only them, but it is for some reason. It might be my friends to while we are out and about (not at school) but they haven't told me to quiet down, my parents and family members have. _________________ (I'm a Girl... )

Shout it out topic
My son tells me I shout when I talk on my cell phone to him. Odd, when I cannot hear i talk louder, and I am not aware of this until someone tells me. _________________ Radical Aspergian

| My mother tells me I am being too loud, I don't need to be so loud, I'm shouting. But then she told me my voice isn't as loud as it used to be but when we are in a closed space such as in the car, it's loud. |

I was often being told off as a child for shouting, when I didnt even realise that I was.
I have always had a problem with volume control and was always labelled as loud at school by the teachers.
These days I am a little better, apart from when I get excited or agitated.
Im working on this too. _________________ Is it better to let people assume you are stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt?? |

I have the opposite problem. My NT girlfriend doesn't seem to know how to use her 'indoor voice', and I am always telling her to try to be a little quieter. Especially at night. I guess she just raises her voice when she's animated/excited/happy, which is a good state to be in, but I don't know why she needs to be so loud when I am right next to her. _________________ ~I wanna fly high, so I can reach the highest of all the heavens
