I wish I liked to cook, then I would save so much money and eat nutritiously.
I moved into my own place in the middle of November '08 and I'm embarrassed to say that I've turned the cooker on just once and that was only to reheat precooked meatballs!
I've maybe 10 cookbooks, but have barely looked at them. I don't think I've used even one recipe.
Do you like to cook and are you good at it? |

This is very true. Our kitchen has been in the process of being remodeled for over a month, so my family has been forced to have take out nearly everyday. This is a big change from eating home cooked meals everyday, and I'm starting to get sick of greasy food that comes from unfamiliar stove tops. There's nothing like a meal you cooked yourself... or cooked by your mom in my case . I'm not the best cook, but I enjoy learning how. You should totally break out one of your cook books and try to make something, Esther . |

Cooking can be fun, once you get the hang of it. I cook just about every day. I am by no means a super-chef or anything, but I am getting better. Plus my mom is an excellent cook, and a good person to get tips from.
It's the dishes that need done afterwards, that's the pain-in-the-a**. _________________ Those who speak, don't know.

I love to cook, but cooking for one can be tricky, and can be more expensive than eating out.
My solution is to cook enough for 4 to 6 meals, eat one, put the rest into freezerpacks for later use. Works for me.
Need to cook things that freeze and re-heat OK. Curries, stews and other meals with plenty of liquid work well like this. _________________ No person can tell another what to do ... but here is what I think ... (Cheyenne Wisdom) |

I love to cook, I'd say that it is my 2nd love among my many hobbies, and definitely the most practical of them. I'm proud to say that I've been cooking since long before it got trendy for guys to know how, like many things I somehow was inadvertently on trend with that one. For me the biggest hurdle has been the hassle of cooking for one, it does just seem like so much time and effort when you can just get some fast food for a few bucks, but it really is so much better food, and much more economical if you shop right. I learned to make pizza from scratch last year, and subsequently bought a 50lb bag of bread flour at Costco, along with massive quantities of yeast, olive oil and diced canned tomatoes, all for about $35. The per meal cost works out to pennies, not that pizza is all I ever cook or anything, but the ingredients have a long shelf life and it's convenient, I just have to keep the 2 hour rise time in mind. On top of all the other benefits, being able to cook well is one of those things that never fails to impress women, always a handy benefit for an Aspie. _________________ Unconditional allegiance is the surest way to render one’s beliefs and agenda irrelevant

I like to cook but specialize in meat dishes (meat is 90% of my diet). When I had my apartment I did most of the cooking (my ex almost caused a fire trying to make popcorn). In the end I don't use cookbooks mostly perferring to make small changes to dishes I usually make. For instance I knew I like ketchup and onions so I fried them together to make a topping for hot dogs which I don't enjoy much usually.
Currently working on learning vegetable meatloaf. It has the usual meatloaf meats with a ketchup topping but has alot of vegetables ranging from scallions to carrots. Its very involved but delicious when I eat it I can eat the whole thing in one sitting. |

I cook all the time; grab a pie out of the freezer, place it upside down in the microwave, put two minuets on high, after it is done place it right side up and do it for another two minutes and bon appetit. Other then that I cook some snags on the barbie every so often. _________________ Blast Reality! Burst it into shreds! Banishment... this world! |

I do almost all of the cooking in my house, but only if I can have the kitchen to myself, and nobody asks, "Is it ready yet?" _________________ * Believing in myths allows the comfort of having an opinion without the discomfort of having to think.

I know what you mean, my dad always messes things up when he is "helping" me cook. When I have everything just as I like it he moves it all around and sometimes adds things!
Not sure if it's a Aspie thing or not but I absolutely hate that, it ruins it! |

I sort of cook: I can follow a recipe from a book and have something come out nice-looking, and I've done a couple of meals which I've just though "this might work". A fair bit of the time I live on pre-made meals which I just have to put in the microwave or oven to cook.
I'll probably start cooking properly when I get my own place -- I cannot cook with someone other than my mum or boyfriend in the room, and as such I avoid going in to the kitchen alone in the house I'm currently at.
I'm going to be attempting to make my own pizza dough/bases next week as I love ordering take-away pizzas and having them freshly-cooked at restaurants, but I can't afford to do that every time I crave a pizza.
I would like to say I made a delicious (low fat) cheesecake though |
