I was wondering, does anyone here ever feel self-conscious about any certain aspect of their body? I know that in our society, almost everyone is driven to have "the perfect image", and such pressures can make people feel awful, particularly teenagers as they are one of the most pressured groups in our society.

I have a lot of problems with my height and weight. I'm a 14 year old male and I still am only 4'11 3/4" and I only weigh 86 pounds. I've always been short and light and I get picked on a lot because of it. I would probably still be about 60 pounds if it hadn't been for a medication called risperdal, which had a side effect of weight gain. I just wish I could gain about a foot and 20 pounds.

Crazy things happen to one's height and weight in adolescence. It's not uncommon for a guy to grow a foot in a year and put on 30 pounds.

How tall are your mother and father? That's often a good indicator.

Don't stress about it.

((Having said that, I have pretty sizeable body image problems- sizeable, ha-ha. I still kind of feel like I'm sixty pound heavier and an inch shorter, like I was from age 13-15, before I joined Weight Watchers. It was a lousy time in my life to be fat- but I was surrounded by other mentally ill females from 13-14 and then in a Christian school, very small, so I suppose it could have been worse, I could have been in the "real world."))

Thats hard Chris, expecally being being male to be short. But you never know, my son was taller than everyone for the longest time, now most of his friends are either his height or taller than him. Don't males keep growing into their early 20's???? Thats what I hear anyways. You still have lots of time. Maybe your parents should have you checked out just to make sure your are ok, and and maybe get some questions answered that you may have. Oh and my mom who is about 5'8" said she was alot taller than my dad when they were dating as teens, and when he came back from bootcamp he was alot taller than her, I'm not saying bootcamp did it, but time, thats what did it.

My weight is kind of a problem, but it's not enough to be considered "fat", I have a friend who basically says I'm one of the few people with natural body fat; it fits my body type. I don't really have much of a guy anymore, it's slowly flattening due to a better mood and less eating. My face still has a tiny acne problem, but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be.

I wish my body worked better.

It is very hard to make my body do what I want when it comes to some sports.
Also I don't process motion well (like if something is comming or going).
Dancing is hopeless.

Is this what you mean???

Beyond that, might I add, I have a short boyfriend and would not want to change his height if I could. Dating a guy who's 5'6" is the only good thing about being a chick who's 5'2"!!! ((Not sure if that's helpful or even funny))

Apparently according some article I read in Mens Health if your above average height for a man you are more sucessful.
I've been above the average height for a man since being aproximatly fithteen.
I hate having blemishs, I don't to many, but they still plauge my features.
I weigh about twelve stone, however since my height I don't look fat. I want to loose about two stone so that I look really skinny. People say I'm far from fat, though I'll atest I'm far from the ideal weight I aspire to achieve.
I wish my facial features were effeminate.

This is the first time I have met someone the same height as me (even though it was over the web!) I'm 14-15 years old, I'm about 4'11" and my joints crack a lot as well!

I'm about 5'4" and 17 years old, but under 98 lbs. Damn right I feel self conscious since I'm so skinny, and not even pigging out on junk food helps. If I take my shirt off, you can literally see part of my chest in front of where my heart is pulsating with my heartbeat. Just an easy target for people in life, and when such a flimsy target is hit by the arrow, it's liable to shatter.

I'm 6' 0" and weigh 112 lbs. No matter what I eat, I don't put on weight. Exercise doesn't add much muscle. Confused Confused

Heh, I'm the opposite. Same height, but weigh 215. I have an odd mix of fat and muscle, which further proves that weight means nothing. I have work to thank for most of the muscles, especially the accidentally-flex-themselves arms.

A friend once told me he couldn't gain weight. My advice to him: Go on a diet! You'll pack those pounds right on!!!

OK, so the inability to gain weight is a serious problem, I get that. It just sucks to be on meds that made me, at 13, have the metabolism, basically, of a post-menopausal woman.

Why, oh, why can't they find a way to harness overactive metabolisms and share them with people who would love to have them- the same with underactive ones like mine? Come on! We cloned sheep! This should be a snap!
