My cure for hiccups is a spoon of sugar and sip of water ----- it always works!

But the last couple of weeks I have suddenly experienced hiccups every three days. Not sure why.

Nothing in my diet or daily activity has changed.

Any other good remedies out there?

If I have really troublesome hiccups, I take a deep breath, hold it in and have someone punch me in the diaphragm. Not hard but hard enough, y'know?

Works for me cuz I'm a sweet transvestite from Transssexual, Transylvania.

Activate/massage the pressure point in your sternum - it will stop hiccups pretty much instantly.

I've been told vinegar is the best cure.
I've never tried it though. Usually I just hold my breath for as long as I can.

Hold your breath and drink as many small sips of water as you safely can. (Ive read that it's like drowning yourself) Works everytime.

It's not that bad and tell them not to punch you very hard. Just...hard enough.

well you could run into a table instead of asking someone to punch you. just explain to the person who walks in on you why you're attacking a table.

oooorrr....what i do is sit down and breath slowly and deeply. i let my eyelids droops and concentrate on my breathing. you need to calm your whole body down until the hiccups go away. do not do this while you're driving, flying a plane, or parachuting!

i hold my breath and hold my nose simultaneously for about 10 seconds.

it seems like people with aspergers get hiccups more often; why, what does with the way our mind works have to do our digestive system?

Well, I just hold my breath and visualize my diaphragm being perfectly still.
I mean, that's WHY you get hiccups... spasms of the diaphragm muscle.
You have to force the muscle to relax.
To be sure, I can't remember the last time I got hiccups...

Drinking water in an awkward/uncomfortable manner works every time for me.
(Eg. holding cup with arm very twisted, trying to drink with fingers in ears, drinking whilst holding breath etc.)

wow some interesting suggestion
but with parachuting i would probably throw-up instead
Tables? I run into them all the time so I could try that while hiccuping
and definitely the relaxation and visualizations - especially in the middle of the night so I don't have to get up to run into a table.
