|
Hi, I was curious to know what professors out there self identify themselves as having Asperger's or a form of Autism?
Prof's that I know of:
- Temple Grandin, Animal Sciences - Colorado State University
- Dawn Prince Hughes, Anthropology - Western Washington University
- Maureen Johnson, Health Education - Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville
- Vernon Smith, Economics - George Mason University
- Lars Perner, Marketing - University of Southern California |

| I think my mother meets the criteria... She doesn't know it, though. Well, if she read about it, she'd probably figure it out, as far as I know autistic disorders haven't really occurred to her as possible diagnoses for her or for me... A very serious oversight. |

Vernon Smith actually no longer works at Mason. He is now retired but holds an Emeriti title at Mason's Econ Department. _________________ "Just remember, their fans think their players are supermen. Well we're the kryptonite, and we're gonna win." Jim Larranaga |

| Hey, I just found out she is not at WWU right now. Anyone know if she is teaching somewhere else now? And is it just me (I had to look at the different diagnoses or categories of me just now when I registered and I put "neurotypical" though I am not sure if I am typical of anything in particular)--or does "neurotypical" seem faintly derogatory in the same or rather the opposite way that "autistic" can be said in a derogatory way??" |

No. NTs are just the people who label us as outcastes, nothing much. _________________ Ex amicitia vita |

Me, hopefully next year (finishing my Ph.D. this spring). That's assuming I can get hired - the job market for academics right now is rather bleak given the current economic state. |

Me too! Although hopefully finishing as early as December 2009 but may end up being May 2010. Currently I don't have a backup plan, if the job market gets too tough... may end up having to do something totally different for a while. _________________ Won't you help a poor little puppy? |
