"Woman With Asperger's Urges Special Police Training" dated 24 January 2006 by Lisa Gardner from WMTV News 8 at http://www.wmtw.com/news/6395797/detail ... t&psp=news.

"A young woman who was stabbed in the back and had her throat slashed is asking that police undergo more training. Barbara Kring, of Scarborough, has Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism which causes her to react to stress and other cues differently than most people. She testified in Augusta Monday in favor of a bill that would require police and prosecutors be trained to deal with such developmental disabilities. Kring told lawmakers that all she wanted was a friend when she and a 15-year-old girl decided to become "blood sisters" last winter. She told lawmakers, "When I turned my back, she stabbed in the back through my coat. I remember the pain. I screamed, and she reached out front and slashed my neck. It cut my windpipe, and I was coughing up blood. She then told me she would use my body as a blanket when I was dead and stabbed her own stomach." Kring said that when police arrived, the girl who stabbed her told them the two were involved in a suicide pact and that Kring had stabbed herself. Kring said that because of her Asperger's, police didn't listen to her and, instead, bought the other girl's story. She said that subsequently, newspapers and news stations reported that the stabbing was her fault and that she had tried to kill herself. ..."

folks in emergency services have too little training in "special needs" and "special populations". Many think if they cant see "it" that "it" (what ever that mat be) doesnt exist.

I called the police while in fresno and they did not help. Though the person later went to jail I did not know him, for a week or two as the experience was tramatic the person would show up at my door, an african american man after his x-girlfriend. she happened to use my computer, but indeed no hanky panky. For the most part I believe in the morals such as not even looking at a women without her knowledge or consent with desire. It seems improper.

The police failed to come in a timely manner, others reported it to the police and a neibor I asked to call once but it was as the man was at my door. He was in an odd position to do anything.

He went to jail and his x-lady friend testified about it or so I was told. I checked online for the inmates and he was in there, was a gov site that listed people.

The police failed to protect and serve! I am not good with the phone either especially with confussions and such situations.

People who have trouble communicating often have trouble getting the police to help them.

I was physically abused by my father as a child; and I told three people and was not believed (mostly because my charismatic father told people I was "just looking for attention" and because I was known as a problem child) before he was finally arrested and put on probation for an unrelated offense.

I wonder how many other people with low charisma have similarly failed to obtain help from the authorities?

When governmental identities show a trend of failure (like 9/11) then there is a need for re-formulating. Well if my experience was any example, It goes to show that a few things need to happen.

1. I was disrespected by Fresno County Police by not taking me seriously, yet the man was being reported by multiple parties and had just been released from jail. A complete failure from the probation people as well as the police department, a car should have gone by my house every few hours while it was happening.

2. Persons with disabilities are like old folks, yet my self pride would not feel as well if I did not say if needed I could defend myself, but the other person might not have survived, I would end up going to jail for defending myself. So the police department failed to protect and serve as it is funded to by tax payers, not how it believes it should as in duty it had failed.

I'd write an official complaint but it would be ignored, like any other governmental agency they protect there own, unless enough people say speak about it. Cushy governmental jobs, with the more then occasional governmental slacker serving the country, really a waste of tax dollars….

But the Police department in San Francisco beat my brother up very badly. He is not violent and would never harm a police officer. The courts never heard his case against the S.F police department because he was not rich with attorneys. I do not know much about it, if it is brought up he re-lives it.

I donate sometimes to fund police vests through a non-profit.
