Yes. Max Payne is over eight years old, so a new laptop will have no trouble running it at all. _________________ I'm never gonna dance again, Aspie feet have got no rhythm. |

Hang on.
1. You know what you'll get for christmas?
2. What's the specifications of this computer?
Cause if it's a 10 year old PC, it probably won't work. |

Perhaps a more apt question might be if the up coming third installment of Max Payne will work on your new laptop. Probably not, since it is a laptop. However, try Max Payne two, first game was great but the second is brilliant. _________________ "I often console myself with the idea, that even though we achieve so little therapeutically, at least we understand why more cannot be achieved. I already have the first two games for the PS2, but I figured I could try the PC version because of two things:
1. INFINITE AMMO!!!
2. A crapload of easter eggs. _________________ GODZILLAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! |

| Actually, I've heard that Max Payne has sound issue on Vista. |

Max Payne wants:
450MHz Intel Pentiium 2
Probably lower in AMD equivalent
96MB RAM
16MB Direct 3D hardware acceleration
Recommended:
700MHz Athlon/Pentium
probably lower on the Athlon front
128MB RAM
32MB Direct 3D
All needing DX8 minumum
By this standard a 10 year old computer WILL play this. If the laptop is new it will have no problems unless the video memory is too low. |

You missed the OS requirement though:
Windows 95
I think it runs under Vista but the sounds won't play. There are some unofficial patches floating around that claims to fix that. So install those at your own risk. The bottom line is that game has issues out of the box on modern OS.

You'll have to take it up to Alex, the developer of this site, because it's a stock picture. In the meantime, if you found that too small to see clearly, there are numerous accessibility aides both in the OS and the browser. Feel free to ask if you need any assistance setting that up. |

Uh...are you sure about that one? o_O
Would be pretty difficult the run the game on Win95 and DX8 at the same time _________________ How wonderful to be so profound. |

hehe, exaggerated a bit.
The officially supported platforms:
Windows 95 / 98 / Me / 2000
But DX8 is available for Win95, the last version is 8.0a. |

There is a patch for Max Payne which I had to use as the game would randomly crash out on me. I downloaded the demo, and it was fine, so why would the demo NOT have this problem where the full game (legit version) falls over itself? I tried copying the demo's exe over the full game's one and that didn't work when I finally resorted to finding a patch to fix this exact problem.
Patches are good when you experience those it's designed to fix, other times it creates more problems than they solve. The patch seems good, very good |
