| Hello, I am new here but I had to post this. Alex, I assume you are the moderator? As I read through the front page I felt as though I needed to comment. I feel a moderator's duty is to moderate. I feel your posts are opinionated though. I suggest, kindly without judgement, that you might want to post issues with more of a feeling of a question, to provoke oppinions of posters, then you can get more balanced group of responses. No one will be able to agree or disagree(with you) since you wil have not posted your opinion. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense, are you following? For example, I would've wrote something like: "PETA's Billboards (description)... Are they going too far?" Just write the facts, then ask a question. |

Welcome to Wrong Planet!
As you are new, please allow me to give you an idea of the "lay of the land" here.
Alex is the owner of this site. It is his property. We are invited to contribute content, so long as we agree to and abide by some ground rules that are clearly spelled out and "stickied" in certain forums.
Alex has appointed a number of moderators, who have agreed to receive reports of questionable behaviour and take whatever actions they deem appropriate. They do not and cannot be expected to read every one of the now over two million posts on this site.
If you believe a poster has broken the rules of the site that the owner has laid down and we all have agreed to by joining, by all means report it to a moderator. The screen names of the current moderators are posted on the site.
If, however, you do not personally like some of the site content, then your options include ignoring the content that makes you uncomfortable, leaving the site, or initiating non-personal discussions with the intent of eliciting opinions from the masses that suggest to the decision makers that it might be in their interests to consider doing something differently. Effective change comes from constructive criticism backed by coherent reasoning.
Again, welcome. |

It's a bit biased, but the facts are all there.
All that's really biased is the opinion, but only slightly.
I like it, because I usually agree with the insinuations.
Oh, and welcome to the home of strong-spined, stubborn wise lone geniuses.
.............Which kind of helps explain why opinionation is low on my complaint list..
Now the BANNER ADS...
*loads up his o'l shotgun*
Anyway, glad to have ya. |

You are certainly making sense, thecutevegan. For my part, I am fine with the owner of a site taking a position--it's really no different than the publisher of a newspaper having control of the content of the Op/Ed pages.
I feel free to argue, comment and disagree with what Alex says, and, within the rules of use, I think there's lots of scope for that. _________________ --James |

Forum sites do tend to lean in a certain biased direction...that is how they work. There are sites like wp for autism/AS, and sites like free dominion for politics, and sites for other things. They all lean in certain positions but people with opposing views may or may not post depending on how the owner feels. _________________ Honour over deciet, merit over luck, courage over popularity, duty over entitlement...dont let the cliques fool you for they have no honour...only superficial deciet.

Thanks for letting me know the lay of the land guys! I'm not sure you quite took my comment the way I meant it though. Like most Aspies, I'm often misread. And I'd love to hear a reply directly from Alex too! Let me try to redo my comment:
Hi Alex, It's great to be part of a community of aspies! Thanks for creating it!
I have a suggestion for you. Forums are a great place to state your opinion things. I surely do! Though, in my opinion(there's one! LOL), I feel like a moderator or owner should incite opinions of members in a non-biased way. I'm being rigid here, I know! Maybe you could have more than one screen-name or something? Don't be offended, please, that's definitely not my intention. :D

I assume you have been a long time lurker or you looked at his profile and stalked his posts. I'll go with the second choice. _________________ I'm a Peach

1) Multiple accounts are not permitted under site rules; while it would ultimately be his decision, no exception has been made for that instance.
2) Being a site owner does not prevent someone from having an opinion, nor should it. At no point have I found any suggestion that members here feel a certain way about something or risk exclusion. The issue has arisen in the past when someone chooses to express their opinions in a manner which violates the site's policies and rules - but it has been the method in which it was done, not the opinions themselves, in most cases. (I say most as there are times when content could be regarded as being purely provocative or contain inherent liability.)
3) Given the number of threads on WP, if you want to hear from Alex then I would suggest either a PM or using the Contact Us function.
