I am staying home and reading my Chuck Klosterman book, "Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs". I honestly see no reason to celebrate Halloween because I am unmotivated and it seems that because of things that recently happened, like a break-up, my friends tend to be ideas and book characters.
I rarely play video games, but when I do it means something bad has happened and I am trying to escape it. It's a bit embarrassing for a 21 year old to play pokemon but for some reason nostalgia seems like a way to cope. I guess I miss when I was a kid when I had no responsibilities other than to obey my parents and develop as a person. I can say that I developed not into a nerd but a Woody Allen / music critic / avid classical literature buff. I am afraid I am too interesting for people, but at the same time I don't want to become ordinary like other people. It's like I walk into a Hot Topic and see items that the majority of the population is already interested in, like Michael Jackson outfits, it's sickening. The only things I get from Hot Topic are their vinyl albums and band t-shirts.
My interests are various, they are usually obscure. This makes me more lonely in that case.

Me. Halloween isn't celebrated in my country. Well, at least not on the level it is in certain places.

Me too. Halloween seems to be like a holiday you celebrate and have fun with your friends and I dont have any friends so that couldnt be an option for me even if I wanted to "do" something
I wanted to go to the cemetary too see all lights on the graves but I didnt get myself to go as I slept half the day and needed to do some practical stuff when I woked up...

Are you serious xalepax? Do they really light up graves in a cemetery?

I've got a bowl of candy downstairs waiting for whenever kids decide to start showing up.. it's a bit rainy out, though.. not like really rainy, just kinda wet and icky.
Not doing anything myself, though.

Halloween has always been one of favorite holidays. Unfortunately, my own "celebrations" this year are limited to sitting here at my father's house watching "scary" movies i've probably already seen.

Par for the course when you have no money, no friends, serious anhedonia, depression, etc.....

Yes Im always serious. To make jokes is one of my weakest parts! Wink

Well when I grew up this day was called "All Saints Day". The idea was to pay the cemetary a visit and honour the dead people who is dear to us
We used to put candles on the graves, its very beautiful actually. I really regret I didnt go this year and light a candle for my grandmother who died this year

I took this photo last year. Its from a "joint memory area" but there used to be candles placed on single graves too

Oh I see. Sorry I thought what you meant by lighting was people putting brightly coloured, florescent lights everywhere and decorating tombstones while celebrating. Embarassed Which would be highly disrespectful to the dead of course. I think I watch too much tv. Embarassed My bad...

I feel like an idiot now.

I've been planning on going to an anime club Halloween party, but I'm really tired so I might skip it...

The only child I have who is young enough to want to trick or treat, is my step-daughter... who is with her mom this year... So thankfully I am off the hook on that end. My husband was thinking of broadcasting his radio show from this party tonight, but he is not in the mood to go out... so again... off the hook... I get to stay in and I will likely spend the evening drawing.

oh no dont! I realised it was me who put the words "light on graves" in a wrong way making you and Spazzergasm interpret it as above. I was the one who wasnt clear from the beginning!
