The second game is a whole lot better.

The first game, they were sort of experimenting...they didn't know if action fans would enjoy sneaking around so much, so they had a bunch of "just kill stuff" parts in there. Sometimes I kind of miss the burricks, but I'm super glad that Thief 2 had hardly any zombies or ghosts in it Mad I've been trying to replay Gold with this fan made patch that's supposed to make the AI a bit more difficult...I don't know if I like it or not, though, it seems kind of broken to me.

Thief 3, however...eh...you would probably be happier if you skipped it.

Oh, one other thing, if your video card is an nVidia, you WILL want this: http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html

Intel cards don't really need it...not sure about AMD.

Thief is too slow for my tastes.

I quite liked them - finished One and Two, didn't get right through Three for some techinical reason - but I was never really good at them. I'm not patient enough, and I'm a bit too bloodthirsty - never use a cosh when an arrow to the back of the head will suffice. Laughing

But as Garrett himself puts it, blood is the mark of an amateur Wink The game is best played on expert mode anyway, where murder is forbidden (you'll fail the mission if you do).

Sometimes I even try ghosting (sneaking through the level without knocking anyone out, without being seen), but it's always so tempting to just creep up and *bonk* Mad I haven't looked online to see other peoples' rules for ghosting, so I don't know if taking out security cameras or Children counts.

Loved Deadly Shadows, true classic in my opinion. Not played one or two though. Really nothing else out there like the series though, unique.

I am currently up to the opera house which is my second least favorite level and constintines manor is my least favorite. The walkthrough I am using is from gamefaqs and by taffer and some tines when he says right the correct way is actually left.I am up to the room with the singer with the opera glasses. It is really annoying.

oppositedirection - VTM - Bloodlines is the closest thing I can think of to the ambience of the Thief series, have you tried it? It's very good (though you need the patches!).

Thief 3 is to Thief 2, as Super Mario Land is to Super Mario Bros. 3.

I could probably think of a better analogy if I tried, but seriously, after 2, 3 is just disappointing in every way imaginable...though to its credit, it did have slightly better AI.

Wait 'til you get to the bank, or Life of the Party...I think it took me like four hours to beat each one of those the first time I played it @_@

But I like to do goofy things like knock everyone out and leave all their bodies in the same room ¬_¬

Yeah, the Thieves' Guild kind of sucked...way too many people looking for you, and way too many bright lights.

Just started on Thief 1 last night thanks to this thread (thanks! Smile ) - haven't gotten through Bafford's mansion yet though. Am trying my hardest not to be blood-thirsty. Very Happy

(edit) Only killed four (! Rolling Eyes ) of Bafford's henchdudes, onto the prison mines - don't like zombies though. Will switch to Thief II I think.
