I've been told throughout my childhood that I can't control how a person feels, acts, or believes. This is true, no one can control how a person reacts to a situation or maybe what you do, but sometimes I just wish I could so the day could just go MY way.

Does anyone else feel like this at times?

Very Happy

Yes, I used to feel that way a lot. I think I finally began to outgrow it after the age of 30, but that's when I realized that I was actually much happier when I just avoided other people altogether and kept to myself.

Nearly twenty years after that I discovered AS, was diagnosed and suddenly it all made sense.

Adopting some of the attitudes of Zen Buddhism in my mid-late twenties helped a lot, too. It helped me not to take everything in my life quite so seriously and not get so bent about things I couldn't control.

Its that 'I MUST be prepared for everything - No Surprises Allowed' aspect of AS that I think causes us to feel that way in dealings with others. We want everything to be predictable and orderly, so we don't get overwhelmed - and emotions are particularly overwhelming.

Truth be told, though, if I you could program everybody around you like robots so they always did things exactly the way you expected them to, things would get really boring in a hurry.

I think controlling everyone temporarily would be awesome . But after a couple of years I'm pretty sure I'd get bored. Then I'd just start a world war or something.

I wish I could control people and, the most, their reactions. I hate unpredictability, I love when things are predictable.
Wish we could also make people predictable.

In a way, people are controllable.
Withhold the right information, tell just the right lie, etc..
Once you've led them to a certain reaction, the others all fall into place. (...If you can do it right.)
The tricky bit is getting to that first planned reaction.

Most people are like sheep: they're hardwired to be followers, not leaders. I don't know whether I'm a leader, but at the very least, I'm not a follower.
