This is a place to give props to your favorite robot. Real, fictional. So remember
1. Nothing with organic parts.
2. No wandering AIs
3. No sentient computers
4 Be techinacally correct, the best kind of correct.

I'll Start of. From a design point, The S.A.I.N.T.s

I tend to favour robots of what Asimov called the "clank-clank-argh!" variety, and my favourite is one of them - Mister Crane. (from Neal Asher's Polity books)

He's tall. He's got a black hat. He's brass. He's insane (mostly). And to quote tvtropes, "Mr. Crane is a walking Crowning Moment Of Awesome with an aura buff that causes these to happen in his presence." He is and he does. Smile

And he's not quite a bad guy.

(with honourable mentions to Skaffen-Amtiskaw and various other Culture drones, and R. Giskard (for the Zeroth Law) - definitely not that annoying Olivaw git though!)

Ok I go for HK-47, from the KOTOR games, who is sarcastic and physhotic. He was created by one of the greatest Sith, must describe the catagory of his sentence (sometimes revealing hidden agenda, calls all organics "meatbags", despises all robots beneath him (all robots are beneath him) and has shown great pleasure in killing. He even described love as making a difficult shot with a snipwer rifle on a well planned assasination.

And the Chii (left) and Sumomo (right) from Chobits, yet they are called persocons, aparently to not be restrained by 3 laws of robotics. Chii is the naive, yet sweet and had not original programing, except for learning and we see her go from innocent mimicer to the proud persocon who insists on working to help her owner/friend. Yet is told to spend the money on things that make her happy, but she thinks she is happy when he is, so she gets him some food, and learnt to cook, plus a pornographic magazine (he isn't too happy she knows this side of him). And sumomo can act like a mobile phone, though she has a bright yet sometimes scary personality, wakes owner up for morning excercises, and is programed to dance while waiting. She was also aparently used by her original young male adult owner as a browser, and when the guys talk about looking up porn she hapily starts sing "porn".

It is thought the phrase meatbag might be reference to bender, well here is a video.

And one of Sumomo taking a phone call when alone with the only normal persocon (hard to find god understandable clips).

Oooh, I have a hard time choosing, so I’ll just give a shared 1st place to 2 robots:
-R2-D2: It’s one of the few robots who aren’t too antropomorphised and I really like that. R2-D2 is a real robot, looking like a robot, sounding like a robot, and being robot despite having its own POV. (Yeah, I know that one was a bit contradictory.) I have nothing against androids per se, they’re still robots after all, it’s just that I never got what was so cool about a robot looking like a human. It’s not about ”uncanny valley”. I just like robots who are true robots, and R2 is it.

-The other first pricer is a small robot I got as a little kid. It was a Playmobil Playmo Space robot from the 1980’s. It was a great robot that came in a box with a drawing of the robot on a desolate lunar surface. I still have it as well as my little R2-D2.

98k –

2nd place goes to ORVIS by H M Hoover. It wasn’t Disney sugary even though it was a somewhat antropomorphised robot, yet it the story did touch me.
