As I have explored Asperger's syndrome information and found how much of it explains me, I have gotten to the point of wondering how much of my personality and behavior is or isn't characteristic of AS. So I would like to know if any other Aspies out there have had the same experience with Non Steroidal Anti Inflamatory Drugs (NSAIDs) such as Ibuprophen, Naproxin sodium, and the like. Aspirin is also an NSAID but is not as strong as the others and does not cause the reaction that concerns me.

When I take an NSAID, particularly when I take them more than just a single dose but rather for several doses a day and several days, they are very effective at suppressing fever and pain, however I become hyper-irritable and somewhat paranoid. I repeatedly and persistantly experience melt downs. I can't restrain my temper when it comes to verbal outbursts of foul language, and irrationally feel that all my problems are caused by the gross negligence of others or outright malevolence. If I stop taking the NSAIDs, after about 4 to 8 hours I realize how utterly irrational I have been in my verbal outbursts and am quite ashamed of them and after about another 8 hours I am back to myself. After realizing that I am in this mode, I try to isolate myself from others so as not to inflict myself on them and I try to do nothing which is at all challenging. until I get the drug out of my system.

So I was just wondering if any others on the spectrum think they might have experienced the same effect from NSAID's

Oh, and why do I take them? ...... Because they stop the physical pain or fever or other flu symptoms, better than anything else, and somehow I hope I won't take them long enough to get in trouble.
