I cannot tell whether or not I am attractive at all. I could be anywhere from totally hot- plain/uninteresting-ugliest thing on this planet. Any way to determine which you are? If you have Ugly-dar (can tell whether you are ugly or not) were you born w/ it & if not how in the world did you develop it? _________________ Balance is needed within the universe, can be demonstrated in most/all concepts/things. I'm old and decrepit now but in my youth I was often told that I was beautiful. It never did me a damned bit of good. I sort of figured out that my very sharp features are considered beautiful by some and hideous by others. As far as ugly-dar, no I never felt beautiful, not in any way that would give me confidence with the opposite sex. |

| Some days I look in the mirror and I think I look horrendously ugly, other days I think I'm very attractive. I have no idea how I actually look. |

| I had to survey a variety of people over many years to batten down on where in the rankings of appearance I fit, since I could never figure it out myself. I am somewhere in the range of below average to average, depending on preferences. Since I have very big ears, gangly arms, and am quite skinny, I don't expect to look any better as I get older. |

My guess is, what is it the majority of people tell you. When you aren't around, what is it people who have seen you say to each other. If they say "wow what a total babe" that means you're attractive. If they say, "she is so ugly" it means unattractive. If people ask you out a lot, you have a waiting list of suitors, lots of friends, and people generally have a good opinion of you, I guess you could call yourself attractive. |

I never thought of myself as attractive as a youth - the social anxieties made me so uncomfortable in my own skin, I couldn't imagine that my appearance might actually attract anyone. I felt like such a frog.
Toward the end of high school, though, girls actually began to aggressively flirt with me, and though it took a while to sink in (I was afraid to believe it and humiliate myself by getting cocky about it and being wrong), I did gradually come to realize that whether or not I was any kind of striking, I must at least be fairly agreeable to look at. Finally I came to accept that I was at least okay and had no reason to worry that I was ugly.
Now I look at photographs of myself at 18 - 20yo and slap myself in the forehead - ::DUH!:: no wonder the chicks flirted with me - I was damn cute!
Now where the hell did I put that time machine? _________________ "I don't mean to sound bitter, cynical or cruel - but I am, so that's how it comes out."

Yeah, but if you could go back do you think you could use it to your advantage? I mean if you know it's ultimately BS to attribute someone's worth by their bone structure (and I'm sure you do know it's BS). I'm one who can't pretend like I don't know something is crap. Yes, I know beautiful people have more advantages, but I've known a few who were miserable because everyone saw them as an adornment and not a person. I remember years ago I was working in a restaurant when they hired a new bartender who was stunningly beautiful. All the women immediately looked for reasons to dislike her, but I decided that I was going to do that and got to know her. She was not a happy person. A victim of childhood sexual abuse among other things. She told me being beautiful never brought her happiness. |

I don't regard myself as particularly attractive, and I guess I never did. Again what others think of me I suppose is not nearly as negative as my own thoughts, but I guess I wouldn't be called 'hot' or anything like that. _________________ We all make mistakes. I wouldn't say I was stunningly attractive but then I wouldn't say I was ugly either. I'm the sort of person who is just average, I am just me. _________________ Normal=average

I really believe "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" as they say.
I have been told Im beautiful by someone I thought was gorgeous, only to be called ugly by someone i saw as extremely unattractive.
I have a friend who has 3 gorgeous amazonian daughters....she says "You may be beautiful, but you are being ugly and unattractive at the moment."
Do not let our superficial cultural ideas of beauty "sway" you from seeing beauty on all levels. Beauty has different definitions in each culture. In one it is attractive to look anorexic, in another is it fantastic to be volumptuous and lumpy! Big noses are HOT in some cultures! In others, people save to get nose jobs!!
SO....are you beautiful/attractive/ugly?
Im guessing you, like most of us, depending on our mood, have days where u are gorgeous to some, and days when you are not. Then another day, someone who saw you as ugly, will see some other beauty in your features that they had missed before.
Aspy eyes can be critical....and see fault too remember....see the details, not the whole picture.
So DONT look in the mirror on days where you are in that mode!!! (Anorexia/body dysmorphia is more prevalent in AS brains too) You may just see your ears, or a small bit of fat, and not notice the rest of you actually blends in to other people, so to them you are not fat or just a big nose (or in my case, I think Im a big chin, with a bit of face attached) |

I'm not very good at telling whether people are supposed to be ugly. The only time I can tell people would think somebody is ugly is if somebody has had an injury or if their faces are extremely asymmetrical, or, unfortunately, if they're very fat. I guess it's connected to my prosopagnosia. Not being able to memorize faces any better than I memorize any other object, I probably don't judge the beauty of faces any more strictly than I judge the beauty of objects. _________________ Engineering student. | I tend to find most human faces unattractive, including my own. I am afraid. I just don't find humans visually appealing for the most part, lol. |
