I have three chipped front teeth and two cavities that I have to get filled in tomorrow. I feel disgusting and people will think I am some horrible looking monster for having filled teeth. I am really anxious about this and so sad :(

I've got a fairly badly chipped front tooth and sometimes feel like that. But really, I dont think most people care about it. :) The ones who do are shallow and not worth bothering about!

I'm pretty sure I got several which I need to get fixed. But yeah I agree with fitz05 on this one.

Oh, don't worry. No one will even notice. I too used to have wonderful, cavity-free teeth but now I have SO many fillings. And it bothers no one but me. (I didn't get a cavity until I was about 23- now I have something like 11 fillings. I've lost count). Seriously, no one has any clue but me. If it bothers you try and get the composite fillings. I am allergic to a lot of metals so my ins. covers it and I only pay a little more for them. if you can't afford it though, no one will really notice unless you are opening your mouth and pointing them out :) Don't worry- this happens to most people. You are not disgusting. You would only be disgusting if you didn't so something about it and let them get all rotten looking :P

I also have a few chipped front teeth and no one really notices. If they do they don't mention it. I had one dentist make fun of it....but then she tried to tell me I had HORRIBLE teeth and a bad smile and that she could "help" me but it was going to cost a lot. Well, I have gone to many dentists and they ALL (except her) tell me what great teeth I have (despite the cavities). She was obviously trying to scare me into buying a lot of unnecessary crap.

Honestly, I have never had an issue with this. I've had braces, I've not brushed as much as I should... but never any cavities. That said, I think the most irritating part of fillings with be the installation process.

I wouldn't worry about it. Nobody will notice.

Lots of people have fillings in their teeth. It doesn't mean that you're disgusting. I talked to my dentist about it at my last visit, and he said that some people are genetically prone to tooth decay. I brush my teeth thrice daily and use fluoride mouthwash, and I've still had several cavities. My younger sister, on the other hand, almost never brushes and doesn't floss, and she's never had a cavity at all.

Some dentists use a ceramic filling material now that's the same color as the tooth, so it's nearly invisible. You could ask your dentist about it if you're really worried about the cosmetics of the filling. I have some of the newer ceramic kind and some of the old-style metal fillings, and no one has said anything about them.

Good luck!

Well I got my filling and I can't even see it. Apparently the dentist told me I had a filling once before put in, and I never even knew it! So all is fine now.
