I've been a longtime fan of South Park since it first premiered. I've noticed that they make fun of retarded people, cripples, cops, Scientologists, Christians, Muslims, Jews, gingers, blacks, Asians, whites, Buddhists, American Indians, Little Leaguers, alcoholics, potheads, and every other group of people you can think of. But I've never seen them make fun of autistic people. As an Aspie, I'm offended by this! Do they not think autistic people are funny? We can be just as funny as everyone else (As Rain Man has proven)!

Your thoughts?

What about Timmy or Jimmy? Do you think either of them might be autistic at all?

Timmy? Maybe. But Jimmy never seemed autistic to me; just a crippled stutterer with a great sense of humor. But didn't they say in one episode that Timmy was just retarded? (The one where all the kids went on Ritalin just so they wouldn't have to do schoolwork and ended up liking Phil Collins.)

Hmm, that is odd. At any rate it might be more of an insult to NOT be ridiculed on South Park, since they seem to do a fair job of equally insulting every possible demographic.

Just give it some time. Eventually when they see how many people are calling BS on Autism Speaks, it'll get shined upon. After all, they are relentless in spite of Comedy Central's attempts to neuter them.

Whatever the reason, it isn't that they're afraid of offending people.

The creators of South Park look for situations that they can comment on, and then they explore the structure of those situations. It might be that ASDs are somewhat under the radar for them. They often go for "current events," and although the controversies of autism would be perfect for that (maybe more apropos than the Magic Johnson/AIDs episode a while back), fans of the show will probably have to wait for a slow news week.

What about Butters? I can relate to him due to his niavity and innocence and the fact he is easily taken advantage of but I think they over exeggerated it because I don't think anyone be that dumb. I sure never was. I have suspected he could be an aspie.

I have imagined for my fanfiction story. Butters gets diagnosed with it and his parents react to it.

Mother: He has Asperger's?
Father: Butters you're grounded
Butters: Okay dad

That be funny since they are always grounding him for stupid things he can't help. That be perfect for my story I had been working on last year.

If I knew how to write the creaters, I would tell them to make a show about it and perhaps they should look into Autism Speaks and how many autistic people hate them and look into it and then make fun of it. But I bet they would get mad and sue them for it.

i googled 'Southpark Autism' and look what i founded

http://www.aspiesforfreedom.com/showthread.php?tid=14045&page=1 : THE ASS PIES BE HATIN' ON TIMMEH

Appareantly they are pissed because in one episode, Mr.Garrison calls Timmy 'Autistic', though I cannot remember this, and they all hate this cos 'ZOMG TIMMEH AINT COOL ENUF'

Timmy could have some form of autism but the Southpark website says timmy has Palsy

If anyone knows the SP address they should write to them or somehow get a WP letter to SP. Guess until they put autistic people on we'll have to stick with the "Asperger's High" clip(s) Wink. Although I'd kinda prefer if they make fun of the higher functioning ones rather than the lower functioning kids.
