80% of diagnosed AS cases are male.
Wondering where it is if I missed it? (new here)
And if not, can it be created?

edit: Someone showed me this: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt101191.html
The reason there's no interest here is because:

1- It is in a general section and not very private
2- It is 18+ only
3- The thread is originally about opening a men's section, not about discussion
4- We cannot post topics in there because the replies would be all over the place, unorganized. We need individual topic threads to reply do like for women.

So those who say "there's not much interest" and point at that thread should keep all this in mind.

What would guys talk about in a men's forum? I think they cover everything in the adult section and L&D. I believe there used to be a male forum, but it was canceled for that reason (wasn't anything special/new to talk about there). But I might be wrong.

Because the site is sexist?

"Adult" can mean male or female.

I have my own "men's" site I go to,
I think the guys there are friendly towards
those with AS/AUT, as far as i know.

Then, well, let's start a campaign to get rid of gender based forums! Equality for all! :P

There was a mens forum at some time in the past, but nobody used it. So it was removed and there is now a thread specifically for men's topics here: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt101191.html However, like the old forum it sees very little activity.

The topic of that thread is to create a Men's section. It is not an area for male discussion, and no individual topics can be created in big unorganized threads. It would be chaotic, so no one would post their issues there.

Why is there no Men's section?

There where mens forums at some time in the past, (more than once) but people abused it.

So it was removed (more than once).

IOW, BTDT

Search the board and you will find this topic to be a dead horse dug up and beaten again.

Looks to me like most people want it, since there is one for females already. Hardly a dead horse, given the current widespread supprt for it, and the only counter-argument is that it existed once but not anymore.

If anyone abused the section they should be punished, but don't close the forum.

That is incredibly insulting. Is this kind of thinking the norm here?

I think I'll have to change forum if this kind of post goes unnoticed.

I think the fact that it existed once but not anymore is a fair enough reason - it's been tried and didn't work.

I see absolutely no reason why it "wouldn't work". We're talking about a section for men's issues. There's a female section. Why wouldn't a male one work? Because we're men?

That said, I invite further opinions of any sort.

It's my opinion you can make any thread inferring "Men" in the title.
The old Men's forum was renamed "In-Depth Adult Life Discussion"
Perhaps this is a good place for titles of such threads to take place.

But then what's the point of having any subsections?

Not all males are "adults looking for in-depth life discussion", and that includes females.

Very few men would post topics in there, and very few currently do, because it doesn't seem like the right place, and is not specifically for males, nor for general topics not related to adulthood or in-depth life discussion.

For example, a teenage friend of mine thinks he is bisexual because the only person he is in contact with is another young boy.

There's going to be an LGBT section soon, so he could post in there.

The fact is, a Men's forum has been tried out, and it didn't work. Why do you think it would suddenly work now?

What does that have to do with a "Mens" forum.

WrongPlanet has refined and re-defined many forums throughout it's 7 year existence based on practical solutions through experience. It's totally impossible to please all the people all the time.
