I'll start. Others may contribute.

1. Tell them that everybody has trouble socializing with the intention of reassuring them that they aren't all that different from everyone else.

You obviously do not know what you are talking about and don't understand that being different isn't some horrible, insufferable point of insecurity for us.

2. Tell them you have a list of 100 items but only give them the first item on the list.

yeah very true. I suggest you actually make a list on your first post in order to avoid people getting angry. and also say that suggestions as to list items are welcome.

3. RIGHT after they get done explaining what Asperger's is, ask them what they think you would like to eat at a certain restaurant.

4) After they disclose their unusual issues with socializing, treat them like they just told you they have a disease. "Oh, I'm sorry. This must've been hard for you to share. Thanks for sharing" etc.

Make knowing facial expressions and eye contact, as though you have something to say, and hint that anyone with a brain would know what message you're sending.

Say, "I went to a training workshop, so I know all about Autism and Asperger's."

Punctuate your sentences by poking at me.

7. Tell them "You can't be AS, you're not like this autistic child I saw in a classroom 10 years ago."

9. Start talking at them as if they are losing their hearing.

This is the kind of humor I really enjoy about this board so far.

10) Be as loud as possible in public places where people are supposed to be quiet, like libraries and movie theaters.

11) Make plans and keep changing them

12) Keep telling them "couple" and mean more than two

13) Ask them a question and aim for a certain answer you want to hear and then get mad at them when they don't give you that answer

14) When a steam kettle goes off, take a long time to get to it to take it off the burner

15) Watch a sports game and cheer at it really loud

16) Keep trying to look in their eyes

17) Tell them to "Look at me."

18) Get into their special interests and read all about it and memorize facts and then start talking to them about it sharing those facts with them

19. Shout at them when they're having a meltdown. My son's school did this.

That would not annoy me in the least. I would be delirious with joy to learn someone had been studying my specific special interest. We could talk about it for hours and hours and it would be fascinating...

19.) Insist that they must love prime numbers because they are autistic, even when they explain to you that primes annoy them.

20.) Say, "Oh, I'm SO sorry," like they just told you their grandmother died.

21.) Prattle on about how they're sure you'll "overcome" your autism and be a perfectly normal person some day.

22.) Talk to whoever they're with, as though they weren't there.

23.) Put their face about two inches from yours to "force you to pay attention" and grab your chin to "pull you into the Real World". Do this after having just eaten garlic for lunch. Complain when they wiggle out of your grasp and bolt for the nearest non-smelly, non-grabby location.

24) Claim they cannot have Aspergers/Autism, because they aren't like Dustin Hoffman in Rainman
