James Durbin (the American Idol contestant with AS and Tourettes) just gave an incredible rock performance on the show. He is my new hero. Show your support and go and vote for him on americanidol.com. Aspies rock!
Eta: You can't vote until the show is over. Lets support him. I would love to see an Aspie make it to the end. As someone who doesn't usually care about Idol, I am making an exception this time. _________________ Igor: "Abby something"

Yeah, he is amazing and the publicity is great...
I can sort of relate to him, I mean, I'm an actor and he says that he travels into a whole different world and forgets about all of this worries when he sings? Well, that's exactly how I feel when acting. I can forget about who I am and escape into a new world and just act...
He is like me onstage when I act... I can just let my heart out and become another person. |

| Done ... about 100 times over. That's another thing he has in his favor, other people with Asperger's compulsively voting for him. |

I've been voting with both my landline and cell phones. Been attempting to vote online as well, but I keep getting this message:
AT&T online voting is now closed
It will re-open immediately following the broadcast of the next performance show
Is anyone else having a problem with online voting? |

| He's definitely my favorite contestant.. But i've never voted on american idol and i'm not starting now. None of the contestants are ever people that i actually listen to after the show is over(but for some reason i like watching the show, lol). I haven't noticed anything about him that seems very aspie though, so he must be really good at hiding it... Every time he's on i'm looking really hard for any little autistic giveaways, but i can't ever spot any. His tics are pretty obvious, though. |

His Tourette's is pretty obvious though. |

I think he got treatment at an early age, and my guess would be he is at the mildest end of the spectrum. I have heard him refer to himself as a person with Tourette's without mentioning Aspergers, but not the other way around (so perhaps the Tourette's present more challenges than the AS does). Still, no matter how mild he might be, I love that a fellow Aspie is doing so fantastic on the show! |
