Hello Cool

I have been talking to my mother and reading through school reports this morning to see what I was like as a child.

I found that in my earlier years (like class R and 1) I was an 'enthusiastic' member of the class and always 'expressed my opinion' but then as I got a bit older I got a more 'consciencious attitude' towards my class. Many of my reports say that I should take a more active role in class discussion.
Apparently I was always good at ICT and reading. I liked languages and could pick them up easily.
In PE my co-ordination skills are 'acceptable' (I hate PE bleargh).

I had noticeable obsessions from age 6, generally in computers and in that TV show pokémon (I still like it, just not as much Very Happy ) and I have gone through different interests over the years which seem to consume my entire time, some of these are languages (age 5 onwards), computer and internet (age 3 onwards!), anime and manga (different animes mostly, the big ones like Pokémon (age 6 onwards), Sailor Moon (Age 9 onwards), Cardcaptors (age 11 to 12) ) , beanie babies (age 8 onwards) , computer graphics and Photoshop (age 11 onwards) Russia and Japan (age 11 onwards) and James andf Oliver Phelps (8 months exactly today).

My mother said that as a child I would often bang my head on the wall because I was frustrated and wanted to know things, and learn about my interests.

Just enquiring, do you think I sound like I was an Aspergers child? Confused I was just interested in your opinion. Cool

Thank you, from Clara

I’m not sure, but I think the big key to Asperger’s is social skills. Do you understand body language and flirting? Do you have friends? Do you want friends? Do other people feel like you want friends? Are you naďve about things others your age are not? You may be some other flavor of HFA. There’s a self-assessment around here somewhere.

My social skills have been commented on as 'limited' now and for the past few years, but I do not remember much as a child. I have had friends in the past but they have tired of me and found other friends because of my inflexibility. Razz
I understand some body language but I would probably respond better if somebody told me directly what to do. I believe it was the same when I was younger.
I can usually understand a wink but I miss lots of hints unless they are very obvious. I also know thumbs up or thumbs down but find it irrelevant in lots of contexts.
I remember when I was helping my dad film a live show once and I was following him with the camera, holding the wire at the back, and he gave me 'thumbs up' but I was unsure whether it was 'thumbs up- you're doing a good job' or 'thumbs up - we're changing position now'. That happens a lot,
And I have a few friends, but I never talk to them much unless they talk to me Razz They are people that I sit with every day. I do like having friends but I don't always know how to approach them so I tend not to. I have one very close friend and I get along well with her because she can understand me and I also understand her. She has ADD.
Actually I hadn't thought about that before, but at 11 years I always used to wonder what 'going out' with someone meant (as in the context of dating) I always used to think it actually meant going out somewhere when apparently it didn't. They also used to say things like 'let's get this party started!' and I remember thinking 'What party?'
I can understand things now. But I don't understand text-speak very well and prefer to talk properly Very Happy But i'm a bit behind with the whole relationships thing, but I think that is just more my personality type Razz

Wow, that actually made me think Shocked Thank you for your reply! I'm sorry my reply is so long.

Smile Glad I could help, and at 355 words, your reply isn't long at all.
