As the above question reads, do you get stressed out easily? I know I do. In fact, I've noticed that over the past few years, I've become more prone to agitation and irritation at even the the slightest inconvenience. Last semester in school, two particularly difficult courses sent me into periodic fits of frustration and panic attacks. Quite frankly, I worry about myself sometimes and fear the possibility of this behaviour just getting worse in the future.

Is this just something that's wrong with me, individually, or is it generally an Aspie thing?

Yes. EXTREMELY easily. I would bet you $500 that I am in the "Top 100 most easily stressed out people in the world".

I get agitated and irritated extremely easily from stress, but that does not interfere with my ability to make decisions. I just hate it when things get in the way of my free time. Most people don't understand it because I do have a lot of free time, but I need it that way. I need time to escape reality and do whatever the heck I want (within reason), and if anything gets in the way of that, I get stressed out. I'm still able to function perfectly fine, but I can't stand it. Having a low stress environment is the absolute most important thing for me to be happy.

That describes me very well. It gets me more funny looks than anything else - too much activity, noise, or interruptions and I completely lose my temper. People don't understand why I'm so irritable. I don't know, either - I just know I am this way.

I become stressed out and agitated when things do not go the way I expected them. Sometimes its just silly things and people think I have anger management issues at times.

Like mox said, I don't know why I get so anger over these silly things, I just do

What has changed over the years for me is my ability to control it. I still feel the anger and frustation, but I can keep myself from acting on it when it happens.

Learn ways to control your frustration, panic attacks and anger. That way they do not control you and ruin your life A couple of suggestion would be breathing exercises and physical activities. Also not reacting on the frustration o panic attack right away helps. If I get to that position then I stop what am I doing and think about why I'm reacting that way and what I can do resolve it.

I think you can see that you are not the only one with problems like you have with anger and panic attacks. I could not say if its a Aspie thing or not. Just do not let it scare and control you Smile

Uh huh. I never used to, though, if a pitcher of water spilled or something, which happens frequently with me, it did not faze me in the least, but now I can't take the tiniest thing. I had more in reserve then. I need to build up my reserve.

OCDgirl, I hope you are not in that Top 100 and I hope I'm not either but I guess some people have to be. I would not bet against you, I only have $200. I can't get a job. It struck me to apply at Subway online yesterday (they always tell you to apply online when you go to that kind of place now, I wasn't being completely avoidant) and they make it impossible to even get to the application. Anyway that is neither here nor there.

I get stressed out really easily. I don't show much of it, though. Generally, I let a little bit out, and people notice that, but nobody knows how much I'm holding inside. My shrink wants me to let more of it out, so that it doesn't build up.

I worry about everything. I consider all of the possibilities, even things that are very unlikely. It just is the way that I am.

Bus cancelled so I have to walk three miles in a biting storm. Fine.
Coursework not processed because the teacher lost it and I fail English. Fine.
Someone touches any of the wires around my computer I spent ages straightening. Die. Puny Human..

I get stressed out over the stupidest things and get frustrated over the easiest things. I normally have a walk when I get too stressed or have one of those squeezy stress balls in a classroom or office.

Laughing at myself just makes me angrier and more self-loathing. I think I need to learn to laugh WITH myself.
