uhh what makes waka flocka or young jeezy or cam'ron any less "real" than people who rap over breakbeats instead of synth beats and what happens in their neighborhoods aka gang involvement, selling drugs, partying or whatever instead of social or political issues. There is no such thing as "real" rap. Kanye West and wayne can spit bars for days, how on earth are they "fake" you moron

They do Pop Rap, purely to be seen and do not put heart and emotion into it, thus "Faking" their music.

I can't really tell the difference. I'm listening to a song called Lola, right now.

Real rappers that I listen to:

Aesop Rock - The most complex rapper alive. (US)

Atmosphere - Great at telling stories. (US)

The Streets - Extremely down to Earth. (UK)

Scroobius Pip - Great storyteller (UK)

ECG - He's only on YouTube, very underground. (US)

Eyedea & Abillities - Dwelves into the Human Psyche like no-one else. [rip] (US)

Flobots - Great talking politics and very generous with charity work. (US)

Proof - Stood in Eminem's shadow. [rip) (US)

Sage Francis - Very honest. (US)

Let me know what you think.

If a rapper doesn't grow out of the bragging topic in their songs then they shouldn't be considered very good. Whereas 39 year old Eminem can have half an album containing bragging songs, and get an award.
