The world doesn't owe you loving parents.

The world doesn't owe you friends.

The world doesn't owe you a job.

The world doesn't owe you food, or shelter, or water, or warmth.

The world doesn't owe you fairness.

The world doesn't owe you happiness.

The world doesn't owe you a life.

So where does that put you?

I think that's the beauty in it that many people don't see, that we're able to create our own luck and fate, that it's up to us to achieve what we have in life and look back on our life to take pride in what we did or find a sense of achievement. I wouldn't want everything handed to me on a silver platter because struggle makes us grow as people and forces us out of our comfort zone to go get these 'things'.

The world owes me blah blah thread.
To the tune of JT's: "Cry Me a River".

World owes me sounds like the theme to some Aspies whining about their life.

Except the last line, this is a huge saying among the "republican" movement. I also disagree with it. It is not the government's job to help the less fortunate but rather, it is the job of individual citizens. Unfortunately, since citizens as a whole have dropped the ball when it comes to providing charity, the government has taken up the reins. This is the reason why we have the oppressive socialist system we have today.

The Republicans of today come off as being nothing more than social and economic Evolutionists. The impression they give me is, "It's survival of the fittest, baby. I got mine and you go get yours, and if you do not have much going for you, then go starve to death quietly and don't bother me!" This is the main reason I believe that republicans, conservatives, or whatever we call ourselves are not able to persuade more people to our way of thinking. When the right starts teaching people how to take care of the poor and show potential voters plans on how to do this, they will get more votes.

The Bible itself provides many teachings on how to provide for the poor. One of these include not punishing people should they stop at a field to eat. Another way is for people to leave the gleaning of a field (not going back to gather every little scrap) so that the poor can also have a harvest. Unfortunately most people do not practice this rule in agriculture or business. Byproducts of production (gleanings) are no longer available to the up and coming but are rather sold to the highest bidder. As many businesses continue to squeeze every penny out of every little bit coming in, they give little back.

The "republicans" also come off as hating justice for the little guy. So many of us bemoan the fact that a little guy can still sue a big business (no matter how deceptive a businesses practice may be) even though most lawsuits involve big companies suing the little guy. The right comes off as wanting everything stacked in favor of the very wealthy.

I just hope that everyone has at least a few of these things that the "world does not owe them." Hard work and perseverance are less than 1/3 of the ingredients to becoming wealthy. I know of many people who work very hard at two full time jobs for many years who are barely surviving. Everytime they get a little bit ahead, something comes along and puts them back into the hole. Then again, I know other people who because they had parents that were able to help them out have the best of everything with not as much work.

Inheritance is just under 2/3 of the ingredients for wealth. Inheritance accounts not just for money passed to offspring after the death of parents but also the help parents are able to provide their offspring during their lifetime. Paying for junior's college or helping to get him set up in business are two very huge examples of such a form of inheritance. Inheritance is the biggest factor in people becoming wealthy.

Even though those on the right are, as a whole, more charitable than those on the left, those on the left are in many cases considered more compassionate and show more empathy for those who are less fortunate. This mantra of, "nobody owes you anything," is not going to win the hearts and minds of a great many people.

+1

As a matter of nature and survival in the world, you are not owed anything.

Life is what you make of it.

I know that sounds harsh, but sugar-coating reality does not help people to overcome and succeed.

World doesn't but society does. Not only that it ows everything to me but also I owe everything to it. We are nothing without each other. So that puts me right into the society where I belong.

Society owes you only what you put into it. Tax = social services for eg. Don't expect things to be handed to you

Society doesn't exist, except in the minds of the people who think it does. And the people who realize it doesn't, typically compete far more favorably than the people who try to pretend that it does.

Your mother does not owe you a nipple to suck on.

Your father does not owe you a bed to sleep in.

Your friends do not owe you compassion.

Your society does not owe you a life.

This assumes that you are owed an opportunity to "make" something of it.
