Now, I know many of you might be completely opposed to "drug use", but give me a chance here - you might find something useful.

I have had a diagnosis of mild Asperger's syndrome since age 6, and since age 11, have been on many different types of medication, the only one with an overall positive effect being the infamous Rispredal.

However, around age 16 I began drinking and smoking marijuana (bud, chronic, weed, whatever you wanna call it) at parties and social gatherings.

Lately I've been smoking every weekend, and have found that a day or two after use, I find that many of the symptoms of my condition have been almost completely done away with altogether. That's right, social awkwardness, obsessiveness, inflexibility, insomnia, and mood swings are a thing of the past. And considering my Asperger's is very mild, If I were able to take medicinal marijuana the same way I would take rispredal or prozac, I might be completely cured.

I'm not the only person saying this - google Autism & Marijuana, and you'll be surprised. Who knows? Maybe if some of these politicians were able to sit down and hear what I just said, they might stop all this "war on drugs" nonsense.

I'm so glad its worked for you. I wish people would just open their eyes and see that marijuana has thousands of uses and is more or less a super medicine.

Your social functioning may have improved due to lessened anxiety; but I guarantee you that your executive functioning is going to go down the toilet. Pretty much guaranteed.

I do think we ought to legalize it, but not because I think it's good for you. I just think we ought to stop jailing people for possessing and using a substance that's not even half as dangerous as either cigarettes or alcohol. We're overloading the justice system and giving people drug records for no good reason.

I agree it can be good, but don't get addicted. Never smoke every day. Once a week is better. And try not to smoke, eat cookies or do vaporizers. The effect will be deeper and you won't damage your lungs and throat

It's not physically addictive, but it can be psychologically addictive.

I agree wholeheartedly, but your only 19 yrs old, and have yet to experience years of use

I attend a cannabis club, and associate with many many many long term users

Long term, high end users are losers 8O

Memory loss, inability to read a book, emotional and relationship issues caused by long term use are very difficult to shake and take at least 6 months due to cannabis long term action in your body.

If you keep dosage at a controlled lower titration, YOU CAN SUCCESSFULLY LIVE ON CANNABIS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.........1-2 GRAMS A WEEK MAX

Some growers I know do 3-5 grams a day. Out of balance, their lives revolve around buds. They sit and smoke weed all day

It should be legal, but too many people are making money off of it for that to be very likely. I.e. the DEA would lose much of the reason-for-being if such a common and widespread drug were legalized. There is also the private prison industry which actually lobbies for stricter drug laws, because they profit more when more people are incarcerated. A truly cynical-making situation.

I smoke weed a lot, I usually notice a lot more things about not only myself but a lot of other things as well, I swear I learned a lot from smoking weed and just sitting there just thinking about things.

I have no problem with it's legalization but for me personally, pot increased my social anxiety quite a bit. It also tended to make me worry about things I normally didn't think about. My boss told me once that was because of the type-I think sativa is better if I recall correctly.

Can't be much worse that freaking SSRIs that either turn me into a maniac or a vegetable and give me severe cognitive side effects or being on Klonopin for years: hangover every morning, cognitive slowness. I'd love to try it but it's illegal in NY and I don't want to get into trouble. Also, I dislike smoking, but once a week I could deal with it.

This is key, though I did not do too badly on a half gram a day max. When you start smoking over a gram a day you don't even really get high anymore. Well not me anyway.

Stuff made my social issues worse though. Didn't help that if I took a couple tokes I looked like I was on Heroin and Valium. When I was 30 years old my dad saw me high on pot and made me show him my stash because he couldn't believe I looked that screwed from pot alone.

I don't smoke it very often, I hate that it makes your mind slow the next few days.

I'm unfortunately the same way. All but the tiniest amount and I'm absolutely destroyed. Social use is out of the question, and I don't even like doing it while alone because just a little too much and I'm wrecked for hours.

I used to smoke weed a LOT. All it ever did was make me lazy and more depressed. It made me feel relaxed for a while, but in the end it wasn't worth it. It also certainly didn't help my speech/social skills. In fact it made it much worse for me!

Also, I agree that the "war on drugs" is nonsense, because it's a total joke! There's practically a drug dealer everywhere you look now. What they need to do is sick the military on them.

I've been smoking since I was 19. I'm now 25, and I have none of the things you mentioned. So what if someone smokes pot all day? That's their choice. Some people are workaholics and do nothing but go to the office and work, work work. I say those are the real losers. Or what about the people who just get drunk all the time? At least pot never killed anybody or made some guy go home and beat his wife. No, I'm not saying alcohol makes you do anything, but it sure as hell makes you a lot more likely to do it for reasons I'll never understand.

It all depends on the person some people in general it helps them some people it makes things worse and those people that are more negatively effected should be careful about being safe with marijuana. Anyway I'm for legalizing marijuana since everyone tries it and why should they be punished for wanting to get stoned. sure there would be marijuana addicts like we have alcoholics and will have pot smokers that choose smoke every once in a blue moon.
