The hacktivist collective, Anonymous, has declared war on the United States government urging all Americans to join in this war. The lamestream media has not been reporting any of this. Is it time that we secure our computers so that we are not collateral damage?

I'm going to wait and see on this one. Messages claiming to be from Anonymous are nothing new _________________ Opportunities multiply as they are seized. -Sun Tzu

What needs to be worried about with Anonymous are EMPs. Do they have the technology to cripple the power grid? They could. _________________ JUST LET THE GUY BE FROM K PAX!!!!!!
While the sentiment might be accurate, to an extent, I call hoax on this one. This video doesn't follow the pattern of other Anonymous videos, "Operation V" is incredibly uninspired and juvenile (and no, Anonymous isn't a bunch of script kiddies), and the quote at the end "We are Legion, We are American" is, to my knowledge, completely wrong.
Anyone can post a video and claim it is a message from Anonymous, and that is perhaps the most important thing you need to know. I haven't followed too closely, so it might already be happening for all I know, but it surprises me that the "enemies of Anonymous" haven't engaged in a campaign of sophisticated hoaxes designed to undermine their support by "staying on message" but gradually introducing more and more calls for violence. The strength of Anonymous is their anonymity, but that is also their Achilles Heel. An enterprising FBI agent could easily make a series of videos culminating in a call for a modern-day Gunpowder Plot, bombing the US Congress. Such a call would, if they could get away with it, legally justify declaring Anonymous a terrorist organisation and, at the same time, turn a lot of supporters against them.
Some evidence that the National Security Agency is really concerned about potential destructive efforts by the organization, although "anonymous", responded that the government was fear mongering.
Interstingly, publishe before the latest threat was issued.
The Beauty of the word "anonymous"; anyone can be accused, but it is difficult to hold anyone responsible, and it is also difficult to prove anyone innocent as well.
The effort might not of been well thought out. It's not likely going to result in any additional freedoms or liberties on the internet, for folks in the US. It could provide an opposite result, if deemed necessary by the government.
The latest video, no matter what the source is, pushes the envelope; the folks behind the effort likely don't have a full idea of the resources the government has to deal with cyberthreats. This may warrant an eventual response, that isn't a good one for the folks responsible, and others as well, that might not be directly involved with the effort.

The most powerful organisation in the history of the world versus pretentious teenagers with DDoS scripts! Place yer bets, folks!
I disagree with the notion that the U.S government alone is the most powerful organization in the history of the world. _________________ It's like alice in wonderland except, my names not alice and this is the real world not a dream.

What are the other candidates?
Well first off does the U.S government work alone? Don't think so, what about the people who pay them to say what the people want while focusing more on power and money then actually running a f*cking nation. So for the time being yes that mess is quite powerful but its only going to last so long the way things are going in my opinion.
And other then that i just find claims like (insert noun) is the most (insert adjective)in the history of the world, typically are a little bit exaggerated or impossible to prove with 100% accuracy. _________________ It's like alice in wonderland except, my names not alice and this is the real world not a dream.

It's true that high-ranking members of the U.S. government have "understandings" with certain corporations. However, it is actually the government who has the power, and not the corporations. The corporations are seeking to influence the most powerful organisation in the history of the world. That's what you'd expect! If I was the most powerful person in the world, wouldn't you want to influence me?

I would not be so sure it is the government with majority of power, because they depend on these corporations to keep their power and influence.....its become quite a twisted, dirty game indeed.
Also if that was the case, how the hell would i influence you?.......I hardly have any money and isn't that what they use to 'influence' the government? I am pretty sure the most powerful person in the world would not be intrested in 500 dollars when they probably have $5,000,000,000,000,000 ect. already. _________________ It's like alice in wonderland except, my names not alice and this is the real world not a dream.

At the end of the day, the U.S. government has 8,000 nuclear warheads. Corporations have zero nuclear warheads. (Although maybe the Artist Formerly Known as Academi, formerly known as Xe, formerly known as Blackwater, will get some soon! )

That's a sadly naive way of looking at the way the US "democracy" works.

After seeing this thread I did a google search for the topic and Glenn Beck's site came up near the top; that was almost all I needed to know that this message is probably a hoax, that Beck takes it seriously, since nobody else does. Some of the content of the video sounds very un-anonymous like; possibly contrived to provide talking points for right wing media pundits... like Beck _________________ Opportunities multiply as they are seized. -Sun Tzu
