All the girls around me have side fringes and clearly spend hours straightening their hair.
I like to keep my hair long but tied up, and I get comments about it occasionally. I don't really mind, but is not really having a desire to style hair an aspie thing or a more individual thing?
Since I got my diagnosis, I'm finding it hard to seperate things which are 'me' and things which are 'aspie'. Bit random, sorry.

Straightening not only cooks and kills my hair, but it takes me over 2 hours to do it. So usually my hair's scrunched up into banana curls and parted slightly to the side. I don't like putting it up unless I have to.

Like a paige but a bit fuller and I have fringe - my hair is blonde. Oftentimes I'll pull it up or back or in a bun. I like braids too. I wish I had curls! Recently a hairdresser tried to tease my hair, to make it fuller - I hate that! Because I walk everywhere my hair gets rained on so I'd never curl it.

i have just enough natural curl so my hair bends under at the ends. i don't like spending much time on it. it's shoulder length and all one length. it's generally brush and go.

I prefer to keep things simple. A couple of times a year my step mom gives me a full, very short, layered hair cut, with the top and bangs brushed forward, not back. In between times I will cut my bangs, and the sides over the ears, as needed, to keep it out of my eyes and ears. I used to have the top and bangs brushed back during short layered cuts, but it went against the hair's natural growth pattern and quickly went from looking okay to looking awful. Once I switched to having the top and bangs brushed forward during the hair cuts--with the grain--I got better, and longer lasting results. It took me decades to figure it out, but at least now I benefit from the better way of doing it. I tried other cuts when I was younger, but the way I do it now is much simpler, which is what I want.

I have very curly hair. It's in a side parting and about collar length (long enough to wear up, if I want). I basically do very little with it. After I wash it, I apply some mousse, turn my head upside down, give my hair a shake and leave it to dry naturally. The next morning, I wet it, especially the ends, apply a little more mousse and leave it. As for the style, the last time it was cut, I did it myself. I find I get more positive comments when the cutting has been done by me.

I always used to have a plain hairstyle, with the front just tucked behind my ears. But I figured that hairstyle didn't suit me much, and it gave off a more stronger impression that I was unconfident. But this week-end I have got it styled, a style what doesn't need much maintenance but still looks nice and neat. I still have it down to just past my breasts, but the front is shorter, kind of down to my chin, then gets longer until it blends in with the rest of the hair. That's how I've seen many other girls have it. It makes me feel a little more confident, and it even brings out more of a colour in my face. And also, it makes me look my age more.

I used to scoop the front back in a hair tie, and have the rest just down. It was OK, but I've been told it makes me look a lot younger, so I immediately stopped having my hair like that. The new hairstyle I got now is much more grown-up, and makes me look more attractive too.

The reason why I hate looking too young is because every time a man chats me up, he gets into trouble, simply because other people think I'm a kid, and they look and think, ''what is that older man doing chatting up a kid?'' There are a lot of busybodies about where I live who tend to get themselves involved in other people's business. I know they think they have good intentions in protecting me, but I don't want that. It makes me feel like I'm being watched all the time. And it's always women in their 50s and 60s who are the most bitchiest.

Wavy and long, I imagine I look like a sexy bombshell ;D
(At least the hair, anyway XD)
I keep it down, put it in a pony, or put it in a pony and a hat. Nobody's commented that it's bad or anything?

Mines down past my shoulders and I usually either just pull it back in a high pony tail pulled halfway through or I put it down in a low bun. When I'm going somewhere that I need to do something to my hair, I either do the "Snooki do" with the pouf on top, or I use my hot rollers all over, or sometimes I tease it and put it up. It just depends.

My hair goes down to the bottom of my shoulder blades, and is very wavy and boofy. I almost always tie it up in a pony tail. Sadly, the pony tail is wider than my head because of how boofy my hair is.

Mine is almost black and down to my butt. It has ringlets but the longer it gets the less they show. I don't straighten it because it would take me friggin' forever and would be a waste of time with the humidity here. I usually plait it or wear it in a bun at work and out otherwise.

I've reverted back to my old ponytail ways since my hair has started to grow long enough again Confused . I got a straightener months ago and used to use that a few times per week; only takes about 25-30 minutes with my hair. But now I only straighten it if I have an evening outing. Even if I straighten it though I still have a heap of flyaways.
I've been thinking of getting a brow length blunt fringe and getting my hair cut back a little to just below chin length so I have a Jessie J like bob. It would look good if I keep to my current hair colour (almost black), and it would be ideal for the straightener too.

Wow, didn't expect so many replies! Really interesting reads actually Very Happy
May consider a low maintainance styled cut, they sound pretty simple.,.

Funny how people judge each other on the way they have their hair... Bit odd if you ask me.

My hair is dark blonde, wavy and halfway down my neck (with a fringe). My hair was long in 2010, short in 2011 and I'm growing it out again for 2012. Smile I don't do anything to my hair except wash it and towel-dry it, though I'm going to have to start brushing it as it gets longer (I don't brush it when it's short)

My hair has a simple bob cut. It is dark, thick and wavy so it tends to be unruly. I blow dry and straighten it most days. After years of trying different cuts I finally found one that looks OK and isn't too much trouble to take care of so I am going to stick with this style.
