It's all over the news here. Arlington is trying to declare a disaster area because of the widespread damage. _________________ JUST LET THE GUY BE FROM K PAX!!!!!! |

with all their damage, they said these were just EF1 and EF2's. So far no fatalities, but alot of damage cause they hit populated areas. I am thankful that no one lost any loved ones.
Tim_Tex....thanks for the update! I know ya'll need what rain you can get.

there are actually 4 tornado alleys in the US. Dixie Alley is actually to worst. To avoid tornadoes...live in the northeast or northwest, but then you get blizzards.

Geez. The only major disaster I can think of here in Missouri was the one in Joplin. That was a killer. _________________ Belief in a cruel God makes a cruel man.

Houston isn't in Tornado Alley. When a severe thunderstorm hits, the main concern here is flooding, and Houston has never had any tornado beyond an EF-2.
Unfortunately, hurricane season is right around the corner... _________________ <<<=== This is not the devil, this is the Red Guy from Cow and Chicken. |

Ever been in a hurricane? I lived through a tornado taking the roof off the daycare center I was at. I have been facinated by tornadoes ever since. One of my dream jobs is to be a tornado chaser. They do more than just go.WOW look at that!! They are the eyes on the ground. Radar can only pick up a general area were a tornado is likely occuring and radar goes in five min loops...alot can happen in 5 min. when it comes to twisters and one can form between the loop and be missed entirely by radar. Tornado chasers will alert NWS, local news media, radio stations, and even online social media to get the word out if a tornado is heading into a populated area. Afterwards, the chasers help with rescue efforts.
I lived through a strong tropical storm once that was downgraded from a cat 3 by the time it reached my area. I cant imagine living through Katrina...hats off to my Cajun WP friends!
I predict due to warmer than normal temps, hurricane season will be a doosie this year.
