Some people have different opinions on this. I know a lot of professional fighters in MMA actually have sex or masturbate an hour before a fight, also soccer and baseball too. Some coaches even recommend it. I've never done it so I have no opinion. Some feel it relaxes the mind and body, so it makes a bit of sense. Many people, coaches too, say not to masturbate and if you do do it only once a week or it can hinder performance if you are training or fighting. They believe you have the most testosterone in your body after around a week or so of no masturbation, thus you will feel more vibrant, while other believe it's just good to get it out and be done with it rather than be a distraction, say if you are very horny. Like a lot of people, they think it is better to just be happy, and not resist because that can cause tension. This is just what I've heard about the male gender. I think people should just do what feels right for them, and if you do make sure to wash your hands.

Everyone is different but beforehand just takes too much testosterone out of the system to allow for effective exercise. A good workout takes a lot out of your body so a few hours of recovery is about perfect before exercising that other muscle. Wink

i read on here a week or so ago that masturbating increases testosterone. so... does it increase or decrease testosterone levels?

also, testosterone is only a small part of what's going on in the body

It basically says don't stop masturbating/having sex, just don't do it before a workout.
Which would also include directly after so you still have your normal levels of testosterone while recovering.

thanks! i'm interested because i find it to be relevant to me Very Happy
i do notice i am more tired out after lot's of masturbating but that could be down lot's of things other than testosterone too. it feels more like a mental tiredness but one that relates to physical cant be assed ness. i guess what wolfheart says feels true to me. if i really want to i can but maybe i don't have the same motivation
