I have had a love of horror all my life and some say it's not normal.

As I look around in a lot of the forums around here, I see profile pictures with the likes of HP Lovecraft and Stephen King.

So My question is, Is it common for aspies to emerge themselves in horror?

I don't think it's a generalised thing.
We tend to immerse ourselves in our own chosen world, whatever brings the most comfort, individually...
Alot of different people are into dark things, lots of NTs are. Just writing from my own observation, obviously.

Same here, add E.A. Poe and some others, but i doubt it's an aspie thing because if you take the high volume of books and movies in this genre, there must be some NT's into it as well.

He-he) maybe it's a sign:) I do like horror films and books. Steven King is one of the best. And I love David Lynch films!

I wouldn't have thought it was an aspie thing as such as plenty of people love horror. There might be a higher proportion of people who like horror that are aspies, but I would have thought they would be many other factors that play a part in this.

I think we are all different. People also naturally go through phases. I used to read all SF and Horror. Anything and everything. Now it bores me. After so much reading, I pretty much learned all the tricks, and so I can't be startled any more. I read a lot of non-fiction and environment and science now.

I don't think it's just a NT or aspie thing. I love horror, movies mainly, and have several NT friends whose fangirling could rival my own..... For instance, I'm obsessed with the Hellraiser movies, while my best friend is obsessed with Silent Hill. :3

Nope, not an particularly aspie specific love.

My [NT] mother is OBSESSED with horror, she has thousands upon thousands of books as she'd easily get through one per day (fortunate then that Stephen King pretty much releases a new book every day, lol) - but me...I never had an interest in horror.

I don't like horror, but I know a lot of NTs who do, especially men.

My daughter is an aspie
and doesn't have the least interst in horror. The things she IS interested in usually become obsessions.

Aspie's are generally unable to socialise
so they take to fantasy like supernatural, dreams, ancient cultures and horror
well atleast i had taken interest in such stuff due to my loneliness and isolation and to find some answers
i am heavily into horror Twisted Evil

I've always loved horror movies. I'm not a big fan of the killer movies and it's not because I find them scary but I find most of them are lame. I prefer horror movies with ghosts and evil children.
