Is Saga Norén the first ever Aspie lead character in a drama?

For non-Europeans: this is a Nordic noir crime drama co-produced by Sweden and Denmark that's apparently hugely popular in the UK. Its lead detective lady has Aspergers, something I've wondered about The Killing's Sarah Lund as well, although by comparison to Saga, I think she's just an introvert.

I saw it a few weeks ago. I liked it, but personally I don't know how a high ranking homicide detective could get that far with here social skills. There remaking it in the UK based around the bridge between england and wales.

England and Wales? I'm a bit disappointed, I was hoping for lots of Brit snark about the Frogs in a Chunnel version.

I think there are two mitigating circumstances for Saga getting where she is with her nonexisting people skills: 1) It's Denmark (I mean in a good way); 2) They made an effort to portray the captain as a father figure of sorts who obviously took her under his wing at some point.

What I found far less likely though was the idea that a 37 yr. old Aspie would have to be TOLD repeatedly that she's not like most people. Does Denmark home school its Police Academy cadets? Add to that the fact that none of the highly educated people around her seems to be aware of the existence of Aspergers or autism...

Overall, I think The Killing is far higher quality Scandi crimefest, but The Bridge was enjoyable anyway.
